“Stayed for Oktoberfest -- far from the madding crowd, but that is a plus!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2011

In a quiet and clean neighborhood on the outskirts of town, but close both to the tram and underground stations. Free wifi. Very helpful staff that helped us get into a bigger room.
I have to give it only 4 stars because my reservation (through expedia) promised a queen bed but on arrival, it was only a small twin-sized bed.
We stayed here for Oktoberfest and would do so again. It takes about 45 minutes, door to door, to get to Oktoberfest -- but if you stay any closer, prices go through the roof and you might be too much in the middle of the mayhem.

We stayed 4 days in this hotel and was very pleased. Later we moved to "hotel Hamburg in Nuremberg" that was more expensive, but way worse than this one!
We arrived earlier than the check-in, so were allowed to leave our luggage in a locked room.
Located NOT in the Turkish neighborhood, so a little far from the center (20 min metro U2)

Room: we were 3 people and got a room with double bed and a couch, kitchen that includes a small refrigerator, kettle, plate, cabinet, table, armchair, tableware. Everything was clean and tidy, not old, the beds were changed daily (!), towels also. Just one thing was not really good - the shower cabin was a little small.

Staff & Breakfast: staff was very friendly and helpful, answered all my questions about directions, gave a map, checked the weather...Breakfast was rich, with plenty of real Bavarian foods, pretzels, jams, eggs, fruits, kinds of bread... Although all 4 days it was the same, the variety let us to try something new every day.

While it is far from the main attractions, the hotel is accessible by public transport. The room is clean and has a kitchenette. It even has a fitness room and free internet access. The breakfast buffet is good. Parking underground can be tricky.

I stayed at the hotel towards the end of July 2010 in a double room for a week. I have only positive remarks about it. The room was spacious, clean and functional and it had a nice balcony to relax overlooking the trees and the green field at the back of the hotel. The Ubahn and tram connections to the city centre are closely situated and the tram (N19) runs a night service also (convinient for late stays in the city centre). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and was good and there was also a fitness center. I would recommend the place to any traveler who wants more space and a relaxed environment in relation to the city centre hotels.

This hotel is in a residential area that felt pretty safe to me. As a single, older, female traveler, I appreciated that. The hotel is in a slightly odd location - #26, 26A, and 26B are on their own pedestrian passageway off of Josephsburstr.

I booked this hotel/apartment for days that included Oktoberfest. For that period of time the price was very reasonable. I particularly liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Breakfast is included and there is a fitness center that I didn't use. There's not a lot of variety in the fruit at breakfast. I think I was spoiled by the previous hotel I stayed in. The scrambled eggs are pretty hard by 10am so you might want to breakfast a little earlier.

There is a computer with internet access available in the reception area. Locks on rooms are by magnetic key card. There was a locking drawer in the desk in the room, but it wouldn't stop anyone who wanted to break into the drawer. The only chair in the room is sort of modern. I found it uncomfortable and it tended to want to tip over when I leaned forward. I'd rather have had one of the chairs from the breakfast room.

The odd arrangement of half-stories (as mentioned in another review) is awkward. Be aware of the German tendency to say something is "just" on the left or right or ahead - this can mean up anything from a half-flight of stairs (as in this case) to a quarter mile or more of walking.

The single rooms face the walkway that fronts the hotel. Noise from outside (particularly luggage being rolled over the brick walkway) is pretty loud. The noise level was my biggest complaint.

The bathroom was decent, though the controls for the shower were a bit odd - a push button on a twist handle on each side. I think the right one was water temp and the left one was on and off.

I was in Munich on business, and had my room booked for me. My initial reaction, was not good. The hotel is not near the city center, it has limited dining choices within walking distance, and my room overlooked what I believe to be a commercial garage (trucks).

The room was clean, the kitchenette was a nice to have. Private bath, numerous channels on the tv. All the basic things you look for in a room were above average.

I didn't like how the floors were organized in halfs. I needed to take the lift to the 4th floor, and then take the stairs a half flight down, to the hallway with my room. Difficult with heavy luggage. Also the stairs and hallways tended to be dark, also difficult in the evening.

On the plus side, the staff is very accomodating and helpful. Most staff people have some English. The morning breakfast I found to be very satisfying. The nearby restaurant is excellent, especially the beer. I also found that the subway system is excellent, and not being in the city center was not an issue. The subway station is a block from the hotel.

  • Liked — Very nice clean room. The staff was great.
  • Disliked — Dark hallways, and the half flight down stairs to get to the lift with suitcases.
