“Fantastic”

From the moment we step into Cocoon, till the moment we left, I was very impressed but the helpfulness and quality of staff, in particular Sofia. The standard and cleanliness of the bedrooms exceptional.
The reason we had travelled to Munich was for my partner’s birthday and I had been in touch with the manager about perhaps ordering champagne on arrival, when we arrived the hotel had left a card and fruit as a added treat!
Our stay was excellent and cannot say enough good things about your hotel.

First the not so good: it appeared the place was run by children, which may have accounted for the frosty and un-accommodating reception upon our arrival, which -- admittedly -- was very early in the morning, but not without prior notice. It would have been nice to have been offered a cup of coffee before we were turned out for 7 hours into a freezing and largley sleeping Munich at 6:30 on a Saturday morning. As for the rooms, they may hold a certain space-age delight for some, but we found that floor and storage space was sacrficed in order to accomodate the needless grooviness of a window couch. And the bathroom that everyone marvells at can turn on you during normal functions such as one person trying to use the sink while another tries to get out of the shower. And at these prices (which we felt to be on the high side) to charge 9 Euros for breakfast when non-residents pay 11 Euros is a bit of an insult. The good: Housekeeping was beyond excellent. Give that woman a pay raise! Also, the location is right in between the Marienplatz and the Theresienwiess, with public transport just steps away. Overall, we felt it to be a cold and impersonal experience, like we were staying in a vending machine, and that's just not our style.

This hotel was perfect for our Oktoberfest visit. Only 5 minuteswalking to the festivities, and 10 to the center of Munich, with several local subway stations.

The rooms are compact but functional. The breakfast was sufficient for the price, and got the job done each morning.

There's also a great takeout asian restaurant nextdoor that was quite good.

After reading a variety of reviews on Hotel Cocoon and then going to see for myself, I have to say that I'm so glad we chose this place to stay for our visit to Munich for Oktoberfest.

It put us in the perfect location to walk to the festivities, parades, biergartens, downtown, outdoor market, shopping and siteseeing. We had friends staying in Munich as well as friends living in Munich and we all ended up gathering at Hotel Cocoon because of the fun lounge and bar area downstairs, central location and super friendly staff.

The room was perfect, in our opinion, for a couple or a single. Since the shower is glassed in and basically right next to the bed, it might be a bit awkward for two friends traveling together unless you're really close. For a couple though, we found it very comfortable (bed was perfect - not too smushy or bouncy like a lot of cheap hotel mattresses) and had some nice perks like free in-room wifi a chair shaped like an egg (OK, so this isn't a perk, but it was still cute) and a very efficient setup.

We'd stay here again in a second.

We didn't have the breakfast, but when we checked out we just handed in our breakfast tokens and they took it off the bill.

The front desk staff was also excellent, friendly and very helpful. Stowed luggage (and received late arriving luggage) with a smile, served drinks and helped us find our way to local events.

The only downside was the card activated electricity in the rooms, which is standard for European hotels (and can be sidestepped by sliding your Safeway card in there in case you need to charge things in your room while you're gone) and one night of exceptionally loud activity on the street that carried up to our room. But - it was the first night of Oktoberfest, so we weren't surprised and, well, we had had a bit too much at Oktoberfest ourselves, so soon didn't notice the noise ;)

All the good stuff has already been said - clean, friendly, accomodating, comfortable, quirky, well appointed, well located etc etc etc
Having been born in the mid 60's I felt as though I had been transported back to my formative years as a child and was able to delight in sharing some of that time with our teenage children
The boys, being modern boys, and who were sharing a room, were less enthusiastic about the open nature of the shower and whilst one showered, the other was temporarily evicted!
A fridge would have been nice, but did not detract at all from the overall experience - and was compensated to some degree by the Ipod system and satellite TV
Definitely a hotel to be recommended - indeed - one of my colleagues is accomodating six of his own family there in November

I loved this hotel! The design was so fun and unique. The room was warm and cozy with bright colors, and very clean (I am very picky about clean rooms!) I also loved sitting in the bubble chairs in the lobby. Instead of "Do Not Disturb" signs to hang on the door, they had "Out Exploring the World" and "Cocooning" for sleeping. Fun and cute little quirks. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed for 3 nights and found it to be a lovely little hotel. The rooms are kitted out with cool decor and has a sofa/laptop station with an ipod docking station. It also had a nice tv and dvd player. The bed was comforatable. The shower/toilet/wash bowl combo was a bit odd as it had a sliding door to share between the three compartments. Not fun if your partner's in the shower and you need to go to the loo. Also meant water leaked everywhere if you didn't leave the sliding door on the shower bit. Staff at the reception were very friendly and had great English. A handy note on the board told us what the weather was going to be like that day. We didn't have the breakfast as we found a lovely bakery around the corner near the Sendlinger Tor station. Also great location as we were fifteen mins from Marienplatz.
