This was my 2nd stay here. The location is very convenient. Easy walk to the Viktualienmarkt, the Marienplatz, and other areas of interest. The bus and subway stops are both very close too.
The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom was average (be aware that some rooms don't have a private bathroom - check when you make your reservation).
Be prepared to carry your luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Not a problem for me, but if you're older, have a lot of luggage, are carrying small, kids, have trouble with stairs, etc., you need to be prepared.
As others have said, wifi isn't very good.
Breakfast is plentiful and delicious. If you won't make breakfast for some reason, let them know the NIGHT BEFORE and they will deduct 8 Euro for that night.
The rooms facing the street are VERY noisy. There is a bar across the street that quiets down around 11:30 pm. Construction on the theatre down the street starts pretty early. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room that doesn't face the street.
The owner is delightful as is the staff. I had to pick up my keys at the cafe next door. No problem with that - they were also very friendly.
I find Pension Gaertnerplatz to be a very good value and will return on my next visit to Munich.

We picked this place because of the central location in the Glockenbachviertel in Munich. And centrally located it is with bars, restaurants and a supermarket nearby. The subway stop is also nearby.

Like all the other reviews the staff is very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast is great too.
The rooms are nice with great beds and a private bathroom.

No problem to pick up the keys at the cafe downstairs. The staff of this cafe, called Panini, is friendly and welcoming too.

As said in the earlier reviews the wifi connection needs some improvement. You have to lean against the door to get some connection.

Munich is a fantastic city and our visit was even better because of this wonderful B&B. It was very clean and cozy. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the Doubleroom that had its own bathroom which is always nice. The breakfast was phenomenal! Seriously, so good! And it was just a 5-10 minute walk to all the main action. The neighborhood is a little busy and there was some nearby construction, but our room didn't face the street. My husband is a light sleeper and we both slept very well. We will definitely be back!

Been here two times, and if it will be a third this is the place to stay. It´s small, nice rooms, clean and proper. Breakfast is very good. It good situated, not far from Viktualienmarkt and the central parts of Munich.

I stayed with my with at Gaertnerplatz during the oktoberfest and it was great. The room we stayed was spacious, clean and confortable. The breakfast is also good with delicious breads, butter, jam, honey, eggs, cheeses, cold meats, juice, coffee, milk, tea, etc.
The location is great because it is very close, walking distance, to the historical center but in a quiet street. There is a subway station near the hotel, just across the street.
The problem was the expensive price, but oh well, it was the oktoberfest! The service was good but it lacks the intimate touch that other penzions or B&Bs across Germany and other countries have. But maybe there are people who favors less intimate approach, so this is relative.
