“My Favorite Restaurant in Munich”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2013

This review is long overdue. I've been to Isarthor several times over the past three years and it's always fantastic. There's nothing fancy going on here - just excellent traditional German fare with generous portions. There are hardly any tourists in here (with the exception of my recent visit where I sat next to an American student who was an embarrassment to himself and our fellow Americans). You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and the service is always excellent. Let everyone else go to the HB trap and the Rathskeller - I'll head here every night I'm able when in Munich.

“Kasespatzle was to die for!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2013

This place is an awesome dinner spot away from the touristy areas. You can tell the locals love this place and enjoy keeping it quiet. The food/bier here was amazing. The one bad thing is the service was not very good.

“Hidden Gemmy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013

One would not expect to find such a traditional and reasonably priced Bavarian inn in the center of Munich. They serve "Augustiner" beer on tap which, in my opinion, is the best Bavarian beer. Their menu offers traditional Bavarian dishes and is complemented by a weekly changing menu using seasonal products. Unfortunately, the service is, every single time, on the verge to being bad.

“Dining with the locals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2013

We ate here on our first night in Munich and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We shared
a table with locals who were quite friendly and assisted us with the menu. Even making
suggestions on what beer to order. They shared some sight seeing tips and other restaurants
to try. Our kids are late teens so this might not be a good choice for families with young children.
Best beer in Germany so far

“Good food, ok service, amazing atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2012 via mobile

Pretty central but away from main touristy area. Expect to share table with other people but that adds to the charm of this place. It's not a poncy place with michelin star chef, instead it's proper german gasthaus, with very good, hearty, honest food. Very reasonably priced, wiener snitzl with potatoes and salad €14.90. Service typical german, more efficient then great. Would go again and recommend it to anyone looking for typical german experience.
