you should not miss this restaurant because it so incredibly authentic in the Handwerkerhof (crafts yard) to the right of the main gate in the old city. We actually had lunch here twice we liked it so much. This is where you have the traditional roasted sausages with either sauerkraut or potato salad and a nice beer. They also put a basket of super fresh pretzels on the table, but you are charged for what you eat (they tell you that when they put it down). Of course you have to have one (or 2). Service was great, and you couldn't get better value for your money.

We were staying at the Hotel Victoria next door and we stopped in here for lunch. I had the tomato salad which was a special and had some of the best tomatoes I've ever had. Then I had another salad which had greens, croutons, and bits of pork with a light vinaigrette. Service was friendly and cost was reasonable.

Nurnberg offers many dishes from many kitchens but you really need to try the basics: die Original Nürnberger Rostbratwürste. Come on! For a German name it’s not that long and nowadays this a so-called traditional speciality protected by the European Union so if it’s in the menu you know it’s the one you’re looking for, and not a poor imitation. Rather than buying it from a street-stand stuck into a bun (though they’re also pretty good) get it on a plate with Weinsauerkraut and Hausgebackene Brezeln (also very local) at Bratwurstglöcklein. Nürnberger Leberknödelsuppe is not that good, but coffee, beer and service are. A tip: mustard (senf) is already on the table. Enjoy!

Nuremberg is the first stop of my Germany visit. We arrived at Frankfurt airport in the morning and after we stored the baggage at Frankfurt hotel, we're off the Nuremberg by ICE. Though my wife is not a fan of heavy meat dish or sausages, we still think we need to try at least once. Definitely, we made the right choice at Historiche Bratwurst Glocklein. We ordered traditional bratwurst and roast pork shoulder. The sauerkraut is marinated with cumin seeds and goes well with the sausages. The skin is crispy and crumbled, NOT tough and hard (which is common to not skillfully cooked roast pork knuckle). The fat underneath the skin simply melts in your mouth.
My wife has no complaint.

Less but not least, the meal costs less than 20 euros including a large beer and bottle of water. (photo attached)
You can't ask for more!!
