After checking TripAdvisor in my hostel, this place looked like the best to eat nearby; so I ventured to check it out. The exterior is beautiful and captivating, however I waited quite a while to actually be seated, on a wooden bench. The atmosphere was quite good inside.

The waitress was friendly, but didn't speak much English. The food was both tasty and in large portions, and were all local specialty dishes. Whilst the main dish was brought quickly: the free mustard was considerably later. this didn't matter too much as I didn't want it, but still. The potato salad side (again, which I didn't really want) was pretty sour tasting, though adequate. Some dishes were expensive and some were not. All in all a relatively pleasant meal.

You'll feel like you've stepped back into the 1400s at this restaurant. Sit down at the long wooden tables surrounded by antique mustard jars and order the traditional sausages famous in Nuremberg. Don't forget to try the beer here as it's fresh, cold and perfect with any meal.

This place may be historical but it has lost any sense of history with it. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by Romanians in cheap garish German outfits. And then the beeps and the dings of the microwaves. The chatter of the Asian cooks. And when the bill comes out, there will be an item that says TIPP several euro. When you reluctantly pay the bill including tip, you STILL won't be offered all your change back. They expect another tip above the FORCED tip on the bill. Asking for the correct change will make them complain in Romanian "they kept x cents" even after keeping the several euros tip on the bill.

The food itself ranged from OK sausages to bad potato salad and sauerkraut. you can get better food elsewhere at a cheaper price and save yourself being bad mouthed.

I understood the Cantonese in the kitchen and my companion understood the Romanian. The kitchen banter is something people would prefer not to understand if a lot of it is complaining about this and that customer.

If you want atmosphere this has it by the bucket load. Quite a small place, but with a quick turnover. A fairly simple menu...sausages, sausages and sausages...there are a few other items !!!!

Friendly service, on mainly long tables, so be prepared to cosy up to a stranger. Great food, good price, just what it says on the tin.
