“lovely place”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

great great place, cozy, really good food, excellent beers of course and very good wine AND amazingly cheap. We though the waitresses were in a 'themed historical' uniform, but a lot of waiting on staff wear that hammer horror 'wench' outfit. It was packed so its probably best to book, just outside the main part of town but still within the walled town. Really can't fault the place

“Excellent Restaurant - very cozy atmosphere - not expensive”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

We spent a wonderful evening there as a group of friends, we had an excellent soup, superb lamb and some delicious deserts. It's a small place so making a reservation is highly recommended. The waitress was very nice, knew all about their wine list and recommended excellent accompanying wines. The prices are more than fair and the atmosphere is really special in this place - it is certainly an evening that I will remember for a long time and it really fits perfectly into this old city of Nuremberg. I highly recommend going there!

“A must do. Quaint and friendly.”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

You enter a very quaint and kitsch dining room covered in Durer prints. The whole atmosphere is warm and the waitresses were nice. They sit you on tables with others which is nice as you get to chat to people. The food itself was excellent. I had a duck special and my girlfriend went for the shoulder of pork. Excellent portion sizes at a good price. One of the best meals there.

“A must try”
Reviewed 16 January 2014 via mobile

The restaurant is in the very centre of the old city, a few meters from the cathedral and the main market place. The beers selection is very good, and the food typical German. I advise to absolutely try the fried apple rings as a dessert, they are delicious. The prices are in line with restaurants of that kind. It is advised to book in advance, as there are not so many places available. The atmosphere is absolutely happy and the personnel is friendly and helpful. English menus available.

“Amazing! Make a reservation and go now!”
Reviewed 26 December 2013

First of all, this place is small, so make a reservation. If you only have one place to go in Nuremberg to eat... go here.

The atmosphere is fantastic - very old and rustic. We went at Christmas time and it was decorated like a Bavarian family might decorate their house during this time. We also had a small dog with us that they had no problem with.

The salads my wife and I had were surprisingly flavorful and delicious. Most German salads are just lettuce, tomato and carrots with yogurt-dressing thrown on it. Ours was far beyond that - bits of ham, croutons, with balsamico - yum. Our main courses were full of so many great flavors that we were savoring every bite!

Last but not least, we decided to have the gingerbread ice cream... oh my god, gingerbread ice cream. I cannot put into words how good this was! There were bits of gingerbread in the ice cream. We came back the next night for the ice cream again and they were packed! They let us cram into a corner and have more ice cream... I will dream about for years to come!

All the staff were lovely too. Please go here and EAT! You will not regret it!
