“Great location for the runner!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

Happened to be in this hotel when Lufthansa pilots went on strike. With the assistance of Claudia Kruger, who was my lifesaver, I was able to arrange for alternative flights. Thank you Claudia! Less than 400 metres from the main train station. For those who love to run, may I recommend that depending what entrance you leave the hotel a complete circle around the castle is approx 9.4 km. After that, you can treat your self to nice swim in this hotel's pool. The length of the pool is 9 metres. Do 55 laps in this pool you will have done 1/2 km swim distance. Good luck! The breakfast was plentiful, but staff need to ask customers if they would like coffee instead of us looking for it. The only issue I had with this facility was it needs a desperate renovation.

Room Tip: Stay on a floor higher than 2.

I stayed at the Maritim for nearly a week on business. I have to say there were some good things and some things which could have been better. If I could have rated it 3.5 I would!
Some of the previous reviews are right, the rooms could do with a refurbishment but my room was clean and comfortable, the two most important factors.
The lack of an effective wi-fi connection throughout is a major issue for today's International traveller and does need sorting out.
The breakfast was excellent, good choice and good quality. The bar also has a great atmosphere. However, we had a set menu dinners for a large group and the quality was poor.
This is not a big issue though as there are many great restaurants within walking distance! We found four on four separate nights and they were all different and good.
Great location then, also close to the main city railway station so travel is easy.
The final comment is that the service was excellent. Every member of staff I came into contact with was helpful, efficient, friendly and spoke perfect English!

Room Tip: There was some traffic noise but if this is of concern ask for a courtyard facing room.

The Maritim was in a fantastic location and had a wonderful breakfast. The Beds and rooms were a bit old and could use some updating. The wifi was cheeky. The staff was well enough. Just wasn't impressed seeing as it's in the center of the city. Walking distance to the walled city and historic attractions. Comfortable just old.

We stayed in this hotel in February 2014 and were disappointed in more ways than one. In this day and age a four star hotel should supply free internet in the whole hotel. The only place it was free was in the basement in a conference room. Not good enough! There were no tea making facilities in the room and not even a kettle or thermos available from reception for making tea. We recently stayed in a one star hotel which had both free internet and tea making facilities. There was a welcome bottle of water in the room 'welcoming us to the hotel' , but on closer look we saw it was marked 5.50 Euros . Ridiculous. Our request for a quiet room was granted, they are at the back of the hotel. The front looks out onto a very busy street. The breakfast was very expensive, but also very good. On arrival we asked for general information- the usual tourist booklet, but there was absolutely nothing available, only a small map. I expect more help in a hotel. The shower was extremely difficult to adjust to the right temperature due to the two old fashioned separate taps. Showering took twice as long as usual. U

I stayed there for five nights in Feb '14, and I think it desperately needs renovation. The manager says in an earlier post that the hotel was built in 1986 and renovated in 2000...that is a 14 year time span...exactly 14 years ago this place was refurbished. It needs it again. The carpets are worn, the furniture is shabby, the lobby and rooms are dingy, and for the prices they charge, I feel that I paid way too much for my stay. Also, the wi-fi is without question the worst I've ever experienced in a hotel. It kicks you out every few minutes...and you PAY EXTRA for this! On a positive note, the front desk staff was excellent, helpful, and friendly. Their professionalism took the edge off my stay. The hotels location is perfect...close to the train station and shopping. Additionally, the food is good. Note to management: update or you'll slide into mediocracy.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room...maybe they'll get the hint.

Dear guest,

thank you for the time you spent for rating our hotel.
The Wi-Fi, is in order to technical reasons not free of charge.
But with 4,95 € for 24 hours surfing we think an acceptable price has been calculated.
We know about the conditions of our rooms and do constantly small renovations and repairs.

I am glad to hear that the friendly staff and our location close to the inner city are well in memory.
Thanks also for your compliments about our good food.
We are a traditional luxury class hotel and always try to satisfy our guests, therefore
we always do our best to improve our service und our quality.

Sincerely

Alexander Buck

Not cheap. Rooms not great. Internet not free. Will I go on ?
This is a really great location but really think they need to soend money on upgrading the rooms and hotel itself. The other think that annoys me ... is no free internet. It is not as if it costs a lot to provide guests paying approx €200 for a bed only ! In other countries - free internet for hotel residents is normal - but it hasn't caught on here yet.
On the plus ... good bar - very good staff - great breakfast @ €19.

Dear guest,

Many thanks for taking your time rating our hotel.
We are glad you enjoyed the location, our breakfast buffet, our bar and our staff generally.
The hotels interior is kept simple and in a more classic type of style.
We are always doing little repairs and updates to secure the comfort of our guests.

It would be a pleasure to welcome you again in the Maritim Hotel Nürnberg, next
time you are back in Nuremberg.

With best regards

Last stay there in october 2013. Price 5*, value 3*. Old fashioned, worn off room. Breakfast without fresh hot coffee. My wife complained about this. Solution: waitress served coffee heated in microwave 1 minute later.

Basement garage stinky and more than 30 degree celsius. After one night all the car was stuffy.

Room Tip: View to backyard is more quietly.
