An excellent hotel.

The location is good, being close to the centre of Nuremberg, opposite the railway station, and near to many of the major sites, including the museums.

We had a double room with King size bed, and (although we checked in very early) were warmly welcomed immediately and given the choice of one with a view over the station, or a quiet room at the back. We chose the quiet room: it certainly didn't have a view, except of a blank wall, which was a bit depressing. This was really our only negative comment about the hotel.

The staff were first rate - both pleasant and very helpful; they took initiatives to help us (I'm somewhat disabled). Excellent English spoken.

The food is very good, and we recommend the buffet breakfast. We had two superb dinners.

However, this is a high quality hotel in Germany, and they don't come cheap! If you want to eat more cheaply, there are several places very close: we particularly recommend the Pillhofer (turn right out of the hotel, cross the road, and then cross over to the left - excellent authentic Franconian food - try the soups for lunch. Or try the Victoria, next door: at the back there's a lovely cafe overlooking the "artistic" live water feature - always fun to watch. )

But coming back to the Le Meridien Grand, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and cannot praise the staff enough.

Dear Brian R
Thank you for your excellent review and your closing words "and cannot praise the staff enough" What else could I say a part from thank you!? With the price, you are right, a BMW costs more then a Fiat Panda but once you tried both you know where for you paid the extra money. My team and I looking forward welcoming you back.

I'm a bit puzzled by some of the reviews here, because our stay was nothing but terrific! From the moment we entered the gorgeous, art deco-marble lobby, to the moment we checked out, the staff was eager to help, giving directions, advice on site seeing and allowing us to check in early. We had a "Deluxe King" room which was enormous with a fantastic, elegant bathroom. We didn't have a view, but how could we complain at the room rate we were paying! Internet was free as a Starwood member card holder - it was on our bill when we checked out but the clerk immediately removed the charge when we showed him our preferred member card. In short, we thought it was a beautiful, perfectly located, frendly hotel.

Room Tip: We got a terrific rate on Booking.com for the deluxe king - go for the deluxe if you want a larger r...

I have just stayed at this Hotel two separate nights.
There is no client recognition not even a smile.
They are very concerned about getting more money out of you.
Hotel wise the rooms are tiny New York sizes in Nuremberg...
I stayed in two different room types the first had a large bathroom but horrible view.
I think there are better options...
The housekeepers ignore "do not disturbe" and scream in the hallways so if you're not up they'll make sure you get up!I have just stayed at this Hotel two separate nights.

Dear bernmotta
thank you for your review, even if it is not as good as I wished. Normally we are praised for the friendliness of our associates, my apologies when this was not the case during your stay. I passed on your comments to my housekeeper and she will train her staff accordingly.
I stll hope that you will return to us.

With this hotel just a block from the central train station, and a short walk to the gate leading to Old Town, this hotel provides basic amenities at a fair price. Be aware that not all rooms are air conditioned, and with the incredibliy hot summer that Germany has had this year, that makes the rooms with AC limited. Overall the room interior was rather dark and unwelcoming, with awkward lighting, minimal furniture, and somewhat worn finishes. The price was a fair value, but this hotel does not meet the standards of most Le Meridien hotels in which I have stayed; if location is a high on your list, this is a good option.

Dear CUinSF
we have 192 rooms and 152 are equipped with an A/C unit. The good news is, just for information, that the remaining 40 rooms will be done in early 2013. I am sad to read that you did not like the design of the rooms, but be rest assured that a nominated Le Meridien designer was involved and we are a true Le Meridien Hotel.

This is a very good hotel in town center. You will have many to see around the area of old town. Many restaurants and variety of selections for dining. Hotel services is very good and the rooms are clean and tidy. Laundry services are prompt and good as well. Good breakfast as well (but the first day I didn't notice that there are some many selections inside, I thought just for breads on the main location).

The location of this hotel is excellent being immediately opposite the main station and at one end of a major shopping street. The room was large but the bed was not particularly big and wardrobe space was particularly small and not commensurate with either the size of the room or the overall standard of the hotel. The furnishings were very dark and not to my taste. If I had paid full price for this property I would have been even more disappointed.

The standard of the hotel breakfast was excellent and the staff in general were very good with the right balance of friendliness and efficiency. However If I travel to Nuremberg again I would not stay at this hotel unless I was getting a particularly good deal on the rate.

Dear LambethNorth
The hotel has 192 rooms and was built in 1896. Those days, a hotel had various kinds of rooms and various sizes which we advertise on our home page. I am happy to read that you liked the breakfast and the friendliness of our team members. In case you decide to come back to Nuremberg we would be more then happy to welcome you back and I also hope that we will be happy to have the right price in place.

Stayed here with family as a treat at the end of a tour through Europe, mainly involving camping. The room (junior suite), service and food (only breakfasts taken) were all excellent. In particular, all staff encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. What I cannot however understand is how a campsite in France at EUR 30 per night can include free wifi, while this hotel at EUR XXX per night feels they can charge an extra EUR 19 daily. This is shabby and cheap and hotels such as this should provide this basic service free of charge. There is no possible justification and leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

Dear stockgj
it is nice to read that you liked the hotel, the food and the service apart from the wifi charge. We are an international company with over 1000 hotels worldwide and there are some rules we have to follow, such as the wifi charge. I will bring it up at our next international meeting that this causes some upset. I still hope you will visit us again once you are in town or near by.
