Lovely nice little rooms, splendid service, super close to the historic town center, friendly staff and the breakfast, the absolutely best gourmet breakfast buffet we have ever seen on our 3week travel through the southwest and south of Germany!! When we arrived at the Burgschmiet Garni hotel in Nurnberg we were a little bit disappointed by the room. It was fairly small and warm (no airconditioning). Also we were informed that there was no parking space available anymore (we were a late arrival, but still). After that you could say things changed: the hotel is very near the Old Town, which is great to visit - a real must when you go to Nurnberg! And in the morning we had an absolutely FANTASTIC breakfast! The variety of choices, the fact that everything was prepared fresh and homemade AND was served with a smile and a sense of pride by the ladies who took care of the breakfast made it worthwhile staying at this hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms are average for a three star hotel, in other words don't have high expectations. Rooms on...

This hotel is just a few minutes walk from the walled city. There is onsite parking, which is best to reserve ahead. Parking is tight. Very nice room withsmall fan. Breakfast best we had in Germany. As others have written, not much on outside, but dont let that put you off. After all, you are there for the old city. Plenty of restaurants there to choose from. Try not to miss the Nazi party grounds and museum.

This is a good hotel for a 3 star. Location is perfect, just a few minutes walk from the old town. The rooms are a reasonable size with comfortable beds. Service is also very good, friendly and helpful. The outstanding thing about this hotel, however, is the breakfast buffet which is outstanding and beats many others I've had at much more expensive hotels.

On the downside the on site car park is small (although they do st least have one) so be prepared for some sharp manoeuvres, the hotel is rather hot in the summer and there are only small fans in the rooms and there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. I also don't like the fact that you get two single duvets on a double bed but this seems to be the German norm.

Overall a very good 3 star hotel and value for money.

It was a kind of strange feeling when arriving to the place: old and not pretty from outside and in a normal flats neighborhood. Parking was also strange and a little bit too much clumsy. But entering the place everything changed:lady of the reception very friendly, room very nice, and very close to the castle. Breakfast was incredibly good! A little bit overpriced, as everything in Nuremberg.
Summary: price/quality good, outside horrible and breakfast amazing.

Stayed here on a week long business trip to Herzogenaurach. It took a little finding, the SatNav got confused a bit. Has its own car park, but best to book a spot before arriving as it it quite small (it's not free, but it is cheap). Inside is a bit dated, but it added to its charm, I liked it, particularly the coat of arms! The location of the hotel is the biggest positive, it's just over the road from the walled city - no more than a couple of minutes walk and you're inside the city walls and enjoying the huge array of bars and eateries. Room was big, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a mix of continental and cooked fare - really quite good.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Burgschmiet when we travelled to Nuremberg in March 2014 to visit a friend. Yes the breakfast is first class but so was the room, the shower and the service at reception and throughout. The location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the old town. The journey from the airport was very easy using the U2 tube line to “Plarrar” and then the number 4 tram to Thon which stops at “Tiegartnertor” which is then a two minute walk from the hotel. The old town is bursting with restaurants, bars, coffee shop and lots of history. We took a tour of the beer cellars which was fascinating but be on time otherwise they leave without you! I recommend Nuremberg for a great weekend away and the hotel Burgschmiet is the perfect place to stay.
