Don't let the fact the this hotel is above a casino and up two flights of stairs deter you. This place is a gem! Frau Keiml and her staff are warm and wonderful. The hotel is spotlessly clean, close to the train station, and serves the best breakfast ever!

This hotel is a secret gem. Located 5 walking minutes from the main station in the old part of town in a street that caters to the late night clients. You enter the hotel through an alley that leads to a casino and then you will have to climb up two flights of stairs. But once you made it up there you will be received by a very friendly and accommodating elderly lady, Kunigunde Keiml. She had made it her passion to give her clients the best.

The rooms are small but functional, extremely clean, modern bath rooms with shower stalls. The beds comfortable and enough cupboard space for several weeks luggage. Free wifi is included and the password posted in the room.

But the real treat is the breakfast. Served from early morning until around 10am the table is loaded with plates of salmon, cold cuts and ham, cheese, jams, white cheese and fresh German rolls from dark to white bread. Fresh fruits, juices, pastries, and muesli are also available and once you sit down and chose between coffee and tea you will be asked how you like your eggs.

And now the best: The normal room rate including breakfast is around EUR 70,- for a couple. The location is excellent. Except for the (famous) zoo ("Tiergarten") you can reach all the touristic nd sightseeing places easily by foot. Look at St. Lorenz, St. Sebald, Frauenkirche, Market place with the world famous Christkind-Market each December, visit the castle, the Albrecht-Dürer-Haus, the city walls with their towers, the Germanische Nationalmuseum, and stroll through the narrow streets of the old town where you will find great shopping and cozy restaurants. Try the Nuremberg Bratwurstl (size of a finger)--eat 6, 8 or 12 on a plate with sauerkraut; sample the local microbrews and have a glass of the local Frankenwein in the traditional Heilig-Geist-Spital at the Pegnitz (the river flowing through the city, near Marketplatz).

And don't forget to ask always friendly Ms Keiml for her tips what to see and what to do in this old see town of Nuremberg.

I stayed here for 1 night just reccently with my mum and my aunty. Walking from Nürmberg Hauptbahnhof to the hotel we got a bit concerned when we entered the street this hotel is on due to the amount of strip clubs and sex shops surrounding it. Once we walked up the stairs to the first floor where we saw the hotel reception and met the wonderful older lady other reviewers have coined 'oma' though our minds were at ease and we knew we Chosen well. Our room was three single beds and was clean and modern looking with a table and chairs that weren´t in perfect shape but were fine. The bathroom was modern and clean. After breakfast we felt like we should be paying more as it was just devine! The staff kept asking if we would like more and were re-filling our tea pot and bringing more rolls etc. It´s worth staying here if only to experience what an amzing German breakfast can really be like and German hospitality.
Would not hesitate to stay here again, oh and the location is SO perfect! Took us about 5 mins to walk from the main Train Station and then we left to explore the Altstadt on foot.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor and facing out to the 'dodgy' street. Initially we tried to sleep with the window open but when the clubs close it got a bit rowdy outside so we closed it and then had no problem!

We stayed a total of 4 nights at Hotel Keiml in Nuremberg in July/August 2013.
We loved how close it was to the train station, how clean, quiet, and comfortable it was, the great
breakfast(included) and the friendly staff. We stayed one night and on our way back to
Frankfurt, we stayed 3 more nights. It is very well situated and in walking distance to
all the fun places in Nuremberg and yet close to the train station for an early flight out.
We highly recommend this hotel-you will not be sorry.

Room Tip: There are steps so pack light.
