It seems in Regensburg, It is ALL about sausages. There are several places (one or two are "famous"). We wanted to be able to "compare" and that turned out to be difficult to do. Let's just say it was fun trying. This was the second place we went to. Suffice it to say it was wonderful. There were four of us and each couple were sharing a dish....which does make it easier to eat at multiple places in the same afternoon. The menu is in multiple languages and I don't know what happened, but the other couple inadvertently ordered "steamed" or "boiled" sausages (didn't see that coming). They were still good except for the white wurst, which boiled didn't look too appetizing, and tasted rather bland. On the other hand our grilled sausages were wonderful. Three different "types" of sausage; all of them different from what we had eaten earlier at a different place. We have no qualms about recommending the Regensburger Ratskeller. Service was excellent, the beer was great, and the grilled sausages were very good even when compared to that "other famous place."

You could not ask for a more picturesque restaurant! The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The beer selection is wonderful, and includes the "oldest dark beer in the world". Salads were fresh and crispy, soups were warm and filling. The wursts were absolutely delicious! Wish I could go back for just one more meal!!

We went on a Saturday night, having booked the night before. The staff were friendly and coped with our minimal German skills! Smallish menu; we missed starters out but all had decent sized mains. The Wiener schnitzel was tasty, not greasy and the mixed meat kebab good. Lovely beer and we shared two strudels between five as we'd spent all day eating in the markets. Great service from our very friendly waiter.

On the first saturday night of the christmas market season, it was difficult to find a place for dinner, and also here, it was totally crowded and people without reservations were sent away constantly. So workload for the staff was high, which resulted in a very quick, but still friendly and efficient service.
Several types of beer with detailed descriptions are on offer, and the food is good, but not really special. We had the venison roast (Hirschbraten) and the suckling pig (Spanferkel). Also, the soups are not bad.

If you're looking for value for money and good food without all the decorative trappings, this is the place. It was buzzing the night we went here and it was only Monday. Plenty of locals eat here so you know it's going to be good. A decent bottle of german white Riesling was 28 euros. Main courses around 13 - 15 euros and decent portions - we had no room for dessert. Service was ok for a busy place.
