Delightful smells and tastes. The staff truly cares that the quality of the chocolates purchased is maintained in spite of hot and rainy weather. So enjoyable and such a great view! The staff was friendly and welcoming and the smells inside are mouthwatering! And this is a great place to sit outdoors to watch Regensburg pass by.

Well it IS the oldest coffee shop in Germany so you have to go here when in Regensburg. Their cakes and chocolates are really excellent as is there coffee but be forewarned that it is on the pricy side of such places. The small shop is downstairs, with table service in front and upstairs. The staff are friendly and accommodating, but as mentioned a cup of cappuccino and a piece of cake will run you 15Euro or so. That said I have visited 5-6 times and always seem to drift by when in town.

Excellent selection of wonderful cakes and even better chocolates all made locally. The caffe has been open for the last few hundred years and is still good! The chocolates are not cheap but the taste is something special!, not too sweet or fatty, just full of aroma, flavour with wonderful texture and colour.

Excellent service , you have to pick a cake from downstairs to eat in the cafe upstairs and the staff bring it upstairs where you then order your drink. The choice was amazing and it was very difficulty to make a choice. I went for a cherry tart with a coffee with calvados and it was very nice, very relaxed cafe upstairs and friendly staff , worth a visit

My husband and I stopped here for coffee and pastries while on a walking tour of Regensburg. We had heard it was the oldest cafe in Germany and seeing the tables under umbrellas outside on a warm September mornng was very inviting. The coffee and cherry strudel was delicious and the relaxed "people watching" from near the Town Hall buildings was perfect. Before leaving, we went back inside to select from their beautiful range of chocolates and can recommend the Councillor's draught, chocolate balls filled with apricot brandy!
