“Great rooms in the Country Manor in a quiet part of the town”
Reviewed 25 July 2011

Had to spend a night in Regensburg and chose to stay in the Country Manor annex as we needed a parking place. This is a large, old warehouse a short walk across the river from the main hotel and city centre. Our room on the ground floor was huge, effectively a suite, with wooden beams, a small kitchenette and a secluded terrace area. Very comfortable but a little dark. A continental style breakfast is delivered to your room at a time of your choosing. Parking is in a gated yard a short walk away.

I agree with all who have written reviews on this group of hotels. We stayed in the Kleine Hotel since the last room with a bath was in that hotel. We couldn't have been happier. The room was small--but it didn't matter given how lovely the room was overall as well as the common rooms which led out to a charming balcony. The location was absolutely ideal. The breakfast was excellent--just right amount of food with a lovely mix of items, especially the yogurt. And I was extremely impressed by the staff. The gentleman at reception was just charming--low key, but acted as if we had been coming to "his" hotel for years. Indeed, the overall atmosphere of Orphee is one of comfortable inclusion--true gemutlichkeit, I guess. My husband and I will most definitely return to Regensburg (with our daughter the next time) and, when we do, there is no question but that the Hotel Orphee will be our home while in the city.

We stayed for just one night but really enjoyed Hotel Orphee. We had one of the Category C rooms on the 4th floor, underneath the beautiful old roof beams. The hotel is centrally located and the room was light, spacious and airy with views over the red rooftops of Regensburg. The decor in the hotel was quirky and stylish and the building itself was really interesting.

We arrived to a warm welcome from the receptionist who was good enough to ask whether we should communicate in German or English (I can speak German reasonably well and like to practice!). All emails surrounding our booking had been answered promptly and courteously too.

Our room was also really quiet with an enormous bed, so we got an excellent night's sleep despite the chiming of the church bells every quarter of an hour!

Breakfast was also included and good. Lots of bread rolls, ham, cheese, jam, tea, coffee etc.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to any couple looking for a romantic get-away!

Tip: If arriving by car, follow the hotel's directions rather than your SatNav and remember to park in one of the multi-storeys where you can get a discount

Room Tip: 4th flr rooms under the beams add to the romance!

We spent one night in this thoroughly charming and captivating hotel and were delighted by the entire experience. We had one of the beamed attic rooms with a splendid view over Regensburg's historic rooftops. Everything was spotless and the room's Audrey Hepburn movie-poster decor was quirky and fun. Great honey-based toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast for two (included in the price) was served in the dining room as well as in the back garden, where we relaxed over our coffee before reluctantly checking out. Really nice dinner in the hotel restaurant the night before, too. A super small hotel in every way.

Room Tip: All the rooms are unique; none are bad.

We arrived in Regensburg from Prague to visit our son who is studying at the University. It took us a little while to find the hotel, but when we did it was so worth it. The hotel is in an old restored building in the old town section of Regenburg. Each room is unique. Ours was huge and very comfortable. It has all the things I like best about traveling in Europe; really comfortable beds and real goose down pillows and comforters, a lovely french restaurant, nice, helpful staff, a good breakfast included. It was a very relaxing interlude in our hectic travel schedule. My only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer!

I love this hotel. I used other recommendations to select this hotel on my first trip to Regensburg, and fell in love with the hotel immediately. This trip, my meeting in Regensburg was candeled, but I kept the hotel reservation for one night because I had such a good experience there on my last stay. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The restaurant was perfect. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. On my first trip, I wasn't sure how to get to the hotel, and parked on the other side of the town square. This time, I parked in a nearby parking garage and walked in.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone; business travelers, honeymooners and families.

Our night at the Grand Hotel Orphee was perfect. After having paid for luxury hotels in cities such as Berlin and Munich, I am amazing at what a snag the Orphee is! We stayed in an attic room, which features beautiful old wooden beams and views of the Regensburg housetops and the skyline. The bathroom is rather large with a big window and sink area, and generous amounts of shampoo and body wash. The building is old and very pretty, but there are of course the modern amenities such as Internet and a flat screen TV. The hotel is in the perfect location – most central, on a quaint street surrounded by cafes and shops, and just 5 minutes from the Steinbrücke. The only downside to this is that parking is difficult – we parked in a lot that was about a 10-15 minute walk away. Another great treat at the Orphee is the included breakfast in the Paris bistro-style restaurant. Breakfast is not set up like a buffet, but instead you get an assortment of meats, breads, cheeses, and quiche brought to you, and you can also order some items free or charge (such as croissants) and others for a very low price (eggs). We also had a late night dessert at the restaurant, as it’s open late and stays very lively. The hot chocolate is delicious and the ballet crêpe is to die for. If you’re headed to Regensburg, look no further than the Grand Hotel Orphee!
