“Very nice hotel near city center”
Reviewed 25 May 2013

This hotel is nice and cozy. The furniture is little bit older, look like from thirties. The room was huge with great view on the roofs of Regensburg. Great bonus is bottle of wine and bottle of water in price of accommodation. The breakfast was small and offer was pure. The hotel was clean and the stuff were nice. The only problem was with parking. There are no parking lot near hotel. You can stop by the hotel, move luggage to your room, but then you have to go to payed parking lot about 600 m far away and then go back to hotel.

Grand Hotel Orphee is a magical experience full of Gemütlichkeit (coziness) and historical charm. The hotel itself has a lot of history and it's location can't be better in the center of Regensburg, within walking distance of the cathedral and the Danube waterfront. The restaurant is also well-known all around Germany and very good. Orphee demonstrates classic German attention to detail, from the antique furniture to the bottle of wine awaiting you in the room. The hotel staff is also very accommodating. We had purchased some perishable food at the market and they kept it in the restaurant refrigerator for us.

What a treat to stay at this beautiful hotel! I'm told by locals that it is the best place to stay in Regensburg and I could definitely believe it. It's located right in the old town district, very conveniently located for shopping and sight-seeing and getting around town. Although you might have to drag your suitcase through cobblestone streets to get there, it's part of the charm.

The rooms are spacious and gorgeous, though they definitely have a quirky, authentic European flare, as does the rest of the hotel in general. This is definitely an experience. Little touches like complimentary bottle of wine and a chocolate on the pillow made the stay that much more enjoyable.

Reservations include breakfast every morning in the restaurant downstairs, which is a gem, and another local favorite. Standard breakfast includes bread basket, and a plate of meats, cheeses, yogurt and fruits, plus all the juice and coffee or tea you can handle. What a great way to start the day. The restaurant gets crowded at night for dinner and cocktails crowd, so it's a great way to end the night as well.

I loved staying here and would recommend it to anyone. It may even be worth a trip to Regensburg.

Gorgeous, eclectic, comfortable, quirky, fun. My room was lovely, quiet and ultra-comfortable bed.
Internet was good, but ask for a code for each device that you want to log onto the wireless. I appreciated the fresh fruit in my room each day, and the wine on arrival. Breakfast was lovely, staff were friendly and helpful.

My two hesitations for a top review: is that there are no nonsmoking rooms, so although clean, there was a lingering tobacco smell which is unpleasant to a nonsmoker. Also, give yourself plenty of time for meals - service in the restaurant is friendly but SLOW, especially for breakfast.

I think this hote lis a unique experience anda place I would recommend without any reservation. It is in the middleof the town and it is so beautiful andwell run, it makss you wonde why other hotels can't do the same. In a world of multinational chain where the experience is packaged, well researched and standardised, this hotel offers you something totally different. From the individually decorated rooms, some of them are really big, to the friendliness of the staff to the cleanliness of the place to the great restaurant, it is an experience well worth having.
If you ever happen to visit Regensburg, which by the way is a must if you like Christmas markets or simply beautiful places, then stay in this hotel. You can't go wrong.

Just returned from a trip to Europe to visit family in Paris, then by train to the European Christmas Markets. We absolutely loved the Hotel Orphee, Regensburg, and the amazing Christmas Markets. We walked to the Hotel Orphee from the train station, easy walk with perfect instructions on the hotel website. The Orphee is truly a one-of- kind hotel. The decor in the room and the room itself reminded us of some of the castles we've stayed in. We had a very large room with a modified canopy and lovely antique furniture. The bathtub was huge with a separate shower. The bathtub was such a delight at the end of a busy day of enjoying this beautiful city and the Christmas Markets. The hotel has maintained its original structure but has completely remodeled the rooms and public areas, yet it still has an old world feel to it. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. The charming restaurant is very popular and you absolutely need a reservation, at least during the busy season. The location is in the middle of everything. Breakfast is included in the room price and is served in the restaurant. it is quite substantial, including many options that you order from a breakfast menu. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of this hotel and will stay here again if we have the chance to visit Regensburg again.

Room Tip: We reserved a regular room but I'm pretty sure this was a suite it was so large. I highly recom...

We stayed here for a couple of days during the Christmas Market season. I had read the trip advisor reviews so knew what to expect. My wife and our friends had not.

The hotel is located above the restaurant and you have to got through the outside oyster bar to get it. Wife and friends were apprehensive at this point. It all changed when we met the reception staff. They are GREAT!!! Happy, friendly and professional.

Our rooms were on the 4th floor. Exposed beams, windows that open, and absolutely clean. Comfortable bed and large bathroom. Couldn't ask for more.

The hotel is dead center in the old town, just a few minutes from everything.

We will stay at this wonderful hotel everytime we visit Regensburg.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 4th floor
