Wurstkuchi claims to be the worlds oldest fried sausage kitchen. The site in on the the river at Regensburg so of course, being open air has great atmosphere. The sausages are not large and this is good. Meals are served on a bed of sauerkraut and a delicious mustard is provided. Meals are served quickly so not a lot of waiting. Can get very crowded. Price is about average as in the rest of the town.

It shouldn't be a surprise that something in Regensburg is quite touristy, as that seems to be a big part of the city center. Here, there is a constant queue outside and the tables are full of tourists. The smoke from the open fire gives the food (and the whole neighbouring block) a nice aroma. Otherwise, the food is not that great, especially given the prices. The location is really great just next to the river and the big bridge. And the restaurant seems to be quite robust, as it still stands there with about 800 years of age and despite of being regularly washed by the floods.

Located centrally right beside the old stone bridge, this little restaurant goes back to medieval times. Nice outdoor seating beside the Danube. They only serve traditional pork sausages with sauerkraut (also potato soup) which is absolutely delicious and a unique taste. We love coming back whenever w get to Regensburg. Make a point of going into the kitchen with its wood-fired grill, when you are there. A historic experience in its own right.

This is the best little wurst kitchen in Germany. It just serves sauerkraut and wonderful small Nurnberger bratwurst.

Honestly, this is about location. Directly next to the danube, close to the famous stone bridge and only a stone throw away from the cathedral, this place is as regensburg as regensburg can get. So, yes, its a must.

But dont expect much on top. The food is overpriced and low quality, i had sausages half burnt half raw and the beer (i had alcohol free as I was there in the morning) is coming in its bottle, unclear why they charge 3,70€ for that, as the premium compared to supermarketprice is 500% and all they do is carry it and open it for you... Of course, when all the tourists are getting hungry and head for this place, it gets overcrowded very quick. So go there in the morning.... And enjoy the location.
