Description: The cosy atmosphere of the Gewlbes in Ratskeller Augsburg is steeped in tradition and extremely inviting, and allows you to get away from the reality of everyday life for a few hours. Whether you opt for something substantial like the 'Wirtshaus classic', or a lighter option such as grilled pike perch on a bed of leaf spinach with lobster sauce and herb potatoes, or something sweet such as caramelised sugared pancake with roasted almonds, raisins and apple mousse, there is something to suit everyone's taste. Children and vegetarians are also well catered for. For example, food cooked in vegetable oil is marked up especially on the menu. Furthermore, the lunchtime menu changes on a daily basis. he drinks menu also caters to your every desire, with anything from cold beer to alcohol-free cocktails, that taste twice as nice during happy hour - anything is possible. As a thrilling alternative, a number of Murder Mystery Dinners are organised throughout the year in Ratskeller in Augsburg.

We went there on Wed around 7-8pm and the place was full. Took the local mac and cheese dish which was delicious and the portion was big.

Our city tour guide recommended this restaurant for its typical regional food and atmosphere. They have a massive outdoor seating area overlooking a small plaza and pretty nuns convent plus indoor seating with brick vaulted ceilings with a "disco" vibe. Love to dine outdoors but have had such bad luck with pervasive smokers, that we stayed inside. As another reviewer noted every table has a reserved sign on it; this is an old industry trick, probably few or none have been reserved! Don't be put off. Our service was prompt. On tap beer was good and inexpensive. Food arrived in a flash! I love pork knuckle which is often massive. They offered a 1/2 size, for 11.50 euros with the regular potato dumpling and a very good sauerkraut. Delicious! Husband was happy with his three kinds of pork and beer. Cost for two mains courses, 3 beers =34 euros. Recommended

It's the basement of the town hall. If you enjoy traditional Bavarian food this is the right place to visit. You can't go wrong with the schnitzel and pommes.

If you desire to taste some Bavarian traditional dishes, then you have to try the Ratskeller. Located under the Town Hall you can easily get there from the central Rathausplatz. The location itself is huge, there is even a cafe lounge.

The place is in the basement of the town hall , without a lift . Most of the tables have a “reserve” sign but the waiter let us sit in one of the tables. We order the Bavarian plate with pork knuckle, sausage and pork. Good food and the place is nice especially the ached ceiling. Price is descent.
