“What a calm place to stay, simple but nice”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

A small hotel with a great view from one side. very close to the Fussen city center. Walking distance from railway station. The small suite occupied was very calm and luxury. Extra amenities such as washing machine, cookers were available. This is an ideal place to visit Tegelberg, and Schwangau, Forgensee is just a walking distance away.

We had a 2 day stay, to go to the castles, of course. This place is a good basic place. Friendly English-speaking staff, great buffet breakfast in a nice setting, which is worth the extra €8. Clean, very adequate facilities. Close to the Bahnhof and an easy walk to the Old town (altstadt) and cafes and restaurants. The only problem we had with it was poor lighting near the bed- I had to use a torch to read when all lights were on!

Room 22 with a small balcony overlooking a garden and a great view of the mountains made our visit to Fussen memorable. Mariana, the receptionist, is an asset to the hotel with her warm personality and helpful guidance as we planned our excursions. We stayed for 3 nights and were extremely pleased with our accommodations. The breakfast served each morning was reasonably priced and a convenient way to begin a day of touring.

Room Tip: Room 22 is excellent with its balcony and view. It is quiet as it is on the back side of the hotel.

This is the cutest hotel I have stayed in. Totally not your typical hotel with long dreary hallways and hundreds of rooms. We loved it! We had five people in our group. We stayed in the upstairs rooms, my Mom and Dad stayed in the room with the castle and mural over the bed. This is one that has the single wooden bunk bed over the regular bed. I thought it was great! Three of us stayed in the other room down the hall. It had one regular bedroom with balcony and another room with the triple decker bunk beds. I was the only one to sleep on those and it was the best I slept the entire time we were in Germany, Switzerland and France! I wish we could have stayed more than one night here to enjoy the hotel and explore around the town more. The walk into town for dinner was short and pleasant and the little Fussen castle outside the window was so pretty at night! We also had the breakfast there the next morning before heading to the big castles. It was very tasty and there were plenty of choices. All hot and fresh and probably the best orange juice I have had anywhere. The winding staircase is really pretty and a cool feature for a hotel, but it was a pain to pack the larger luggage up to the room. I would have just put what I needed for the night in my small carry on bag if I had to do anything over and leave the big stuff in the vehicle. Only other negative, and this was in every place we visited while traveling so not complaining about this hotel, but no one has small face wash cloths. I missed them for almost two weeks. And most of the showers are the small kind where you take the shower off the stand and just use it as kind of a hand shower. I always had to be very careful not to spray water all over the bathroom. Like I said - not just here - but in most of the places we stayed during our road trip. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it. It was a very cool experience!

Our family of 3 stayed one night. Cool room with a bunk over the king bed...daughter loved it. Quick walk into town for a nice Italian dinner. Easy drive to the castles, you could pay more but don't, it is a great value.

Location is great close to railway station and town.
Staff were great helpful & friendly
Our room #12 was small & overhang to accommodate bunk bed a head bump hazard, difficult to feel really comfortably.
Breakfast was great reasonable price 7.5 euros.
Overall we enjoyed our 2 nights & price was right

Very nice, clean rooms. No elevator so you will be lugging your suitcases up a winding staircase. Breakfast was included and fabulous -- our best in Germany! You will be charged for parking if you have a car. Nearby restaurants were OK. The "Reception" is only manned in the evening so ask all your questions, get directions, and pay your bill at that time because the morning staff only oversees the breakfast.

Beware of using a power converter with blow dryer or electric rollers. We blew out all 3 once they were plugged into the socket. The front desk will provide a blow dryer designed for European currents.

The distance to the castles is too far to walk (in my opinion) but there is a nice path for walking and biking if that is your preferred method. Go EARLY as the traffic backs up approaching the castles mid morning and is jammed around 5 as the castles close.
