“Great room, but no service on a holiday!”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

It was fun driving to this hotel. You have to drive through a chasm in the rocks to get to it. We had to hurry to get there because we were arriving on a German holiday (Pfingsten/Pentacost) and there was going to be no one manning the front desk after 1 p.m. We got there in time to get our room key, but were told that the restaurant would not be open that evening, but would be open in the morning for breakfast. (In fact, most Fussen restaurants were closed that evening when we tried to find a place to eat.) We also had to remember to keep our room key with us as it also had a front door key on the ring. The front door was going to be locked because there would be no one manning the front desk. Parking area is small and is in the back of the hotel. There is more spacious parking in front of the hotel, but we were told that parking there would require paying for it. We were quite pleased with the good size of our room. We are a family of parents and 2 adult children and there were sufficient and comfortable beds for us. There were the usual 2 twin beds placed immediately next to each other for my husband and I, a sofabed for my daughter, and a roll-out cot for my son. The bathroom was large and modern. Another instance, however, of a small pane of glass that is intended to keep the water in the tub while you shower. It did not, and it also moved and the floor flooded. I did let the hotel know this before we left. Wireless internet was allegedly available, but did not reach to our room despite the fact that the router was right down the hall by the staircase. Besides that fact, there was no one around to give us the password to the wireless internet. Breakfast was available in the morning and there was a great selection and it was quite good.

The Parkhotel is a small hotel located right at the park just a ten minute walk from the center of Fussen. It is not a luxury accommodation but rather a comfortable place with nice sized rooms and free parking. There is a pleasant dining room for breakfast with a view of the park and plenty of outdoor seating....though it was much too cold to sit outdoors when we were there. It must be wonderful to sit on the patio and enjoy the scenery during the warm weather. We had good service, the room was quite clean, and breakfast was good. We did not eat there for dinner nor did we take advantage of the spa but both are available to guests. It is a very quiet location away from any significant traffic which adds to the ambiance. We had very quiet, restful sleep at the Parkhotel.

Room Tip: We had a room in the back facing the garden and it was very quiet though the entire neighborhood is...

This hotel is very well located only a 10 min walk into the old town in Fussen. The staff are friendly and the hotel is spacious and clean. The decor has old school 1950-60s furnishing and a quirky outside garden. Highlights included free use of spa, outdoor hot tub, and sauna. There are a lot of choices for breakfast similar to any European continental breakfast. It is very quiet here and located in a beautiful setting. I imagine it gets very busy in the old town in summer so it would be a nice place to be a few minutes out of the crowds. Great hiking nearby.

Room Tip: Request a ground floor room to get use of private balcony.

This charming hotel is on the end of a narrow street across from a quiet park in a lovely area of Barvaria. The hotel is clean and well kept, though not luxurious. We had a lovely room with a balcony that overlooked the park and breakfast is a fantastic buffet of pastries, deli meats, cereals, etc. The center of town is easily accessible - you can either walk or drive and parking was easy. I would recommend this as a perfect location to stay - especially if you have a car and are interested in visiting the local Barvarian Castles. There is a spa facility that was included as part of our stay, though we were too busy with sightseeing to take advantage. This location is an easy drive to either Innsbruck or Munchen. It also has a lift for luggage and wifi is included as part of your room rate.

Room Tip: Choose room with balcony to overlook park

I was reluctant when we arrived, the hotel was reminiscent of the 1950's. Our room was very clean, but had a woody smoke scent. The place grew comfortable, like an old sweater. The day we arrived it rained and rained and we opted to eat at the hotel. A smart decision, the kitchen does splendid work ( we had four meals at the hotel and were always pleased). This hotel doesn't get many American tourist but we were made to feel like old friends. PS parking is free! It is only a ten minute, pretty walk into the center of town.

This beautiful property is a very pretty ten minute walk into the centre of Fussen. We had a lovely room with a balcony which overlooked a pretty garden and even though it rained quite heavily during our stay we were still able to sit on our balcony and enjoy the scenery. The breakfast is fantastic and we ate two delicious dinners in their restaurant. Staff were really friendly and very helpful with any request. Free parking is available at the rear of the hotel and there is a great sauna and spa area if you have time to relax in this beautiful part of the world.

This hotel was excellent in every way except for the one young woman who was in charge in the afternoons and evenings. She was incredibly rude and unpleasant. Have not figured that out yet. But our room, #65, was perfect for us - 2 rooms, spacious, good shower, good view, good wi-fi, excellent breakfast buffet, good restaurant for evening meals -- altho we did not eat in there but 2 nights of our 4 night visit because of the behavior of young woman mentioned above. Rest of staff was wonderful. I would rate this hotel a 5 with excellent service, except for J's rude attitude. Easy drive to the castles, Wieskirche and other area attractions. This was a good base for touring in that area.

Room Tip: Room 65 was a two room - sitting area and good size bedroom with small balcony and view of park acro...
