We wandered across the road from the Hotel Steigmuehle about 6.30pm because its restaurant is closed on Thursdays. The friendly hostess showed us to an unreserved table. Just as well we went then as within 30 minutes the restaurant was full.
My wife had the spaghetti carbonara and I had the saltinbocca. We could hear the chef pounding the veal in the kitchen and thought "that's fresh"! Both meals were very tasty. We ordered Sardinian white wine, as we had not tasted it previously, and were very impressed.
The restaurant represents very good value. One commentator has suggested Pizzeria Osteria might not take credit cards. This is not unusual in Bavaria for smaller establishments, including guest houses, so either check beforehand or take enough cash.
