“Lovely setting, comfy room, tasty breakfast and charming hosts.”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

Lovely rural setting (part of a farm). Modern construction (soundproof), large comfy room with plenty of storage space. Wonderful breakfast assortment. Hosts had plenty of suggestions for sites and activities ( including a rural beer garden right around the corner).
A lovely accomodation. Great value and comfort.

My parents, brother & sister in law, husband & I all stayed at Pension Fuchsmuhle the first few nights of our 18-day European vacation. This was, by FAR, my favorite of all places we stayed along our trip! We stayed on the top level suite that had 3 double rooms and a shared bathroom. The rooms were the cleanest we encountered throughout our entire trip. The beds were comfortable. The environment was quiet and calm. The water wheel was great for those that are used to sleeping with white noise. The water pressure of the shower was fantastic. The breakfast was the only place in all of our travels through Germany, Switzerland and Austria that served fresh fruit smoothies (at home here in the USA, I have smoothies for breakfast every day). Savor these varied fruit flavors since the rest of Europe apparently only serves apples and bananas for a fruit option. It was a wide variety of foods to fit any person's preferences. Since our stay here was at the beginning of our travels, my whole family was struggling with adjusting to the new time zone. Alex got up extra early to fix us breakfast before everyone else was up. So accommodating & kind! (There is espresso and tea in the library for those that wake up super early before breakfast time too). The area is surrounded by lovely roads for hiking - apart from visiting Rhotenburg. Loved the quaint Toppler's Castle and garden across the street. So much character! The short cut up the steep path to Rhotenburg is challenging. My brother has a disability that impairs his walking ability; it was tough for him. So much to do in Rhotenburg; please stay at least 3 nights here! Be sure to take the lovely hike from Rhotenburg, down past the church and over the Doplebrucke and back to the pension.

Room Tip: If you like white noise when you sleep, request to be near the water wheel. If you don't like an...

This was possibly our favorite B&B during our entire 3-week stay in Belgium and Germany. It's located near a stream and a historic landmark. On top of that, our room had a functioning water wheel just outside our windows. It's so nice that I mistakenly thought they had recently renovated. They have a coffee maker available for guest use. The baths are modern and kept very clean. We didn't have breakfast because we needed to leave early. It's an uphill hike into the town, so for dinner we drove and parked just outside the city walls.

Room Tip: We loved our room, the one next to the water wheel.

We loved our stay here and wished we could have stayed more nights!! After several nights in other small hotels in Germany, we were very happy to find our large room and large bathroom. The mill is located outside of Rothenburg and it's a very steep climb up the hill, but we enjoyed the climb. The location is beautiful with barns and beautiful landscape all around and Topplers House almost next door. The place is very clean and offers breakfast for an additional cost, but we didn't take it. They also have a fridge of beers and other drinks from which you may take and simply leave a little "I owe you" in a basket. Then you just pay for what you used when you check out.

Room Tip: The mill actually runs and you may wish to inquire as to whether your room will be over the wheel or...

Breakfast is extra but worth it - excellent, lots of variety (self-serve). Owner Alex is very friendly and let us eat before normal breakfast time on our exit day. A gorgeous 15-minute walk over a small bridge and through the woods to Rothenburg (if you don't like walking uphill, just stop more often to enjoy the view on the way up - and coming back it's all downhill). Comfortable bed - our family stayed in the upper suite with three bedrooms, a sitting room and a bathroom with tub/shower. Clean, lots of hot water and thoughtfully appointed - the décor is modern in this great old house (but watch the sloping roof when you get out of bed on the top floor :)). There's a freezer in the little lobby with water and other drinks (honor system). Would happily stay here again.

we slept at pension fuchsmuehle 2 nights. the place itself clean and quiet. the decor inside the room simple, a little bit disappointed, but very comfortable. wi fi slow inside the room. the men who in charge the place freindly. breakfast reasonable. you need a car to arrive the city. it's not faraway but at night it's very dark. but above all it's the wonderful area outside. charming! the best nature . just finish breakfast and take a walk outside, and Rothenburg itself amazing. very good place. recommended!

Room Tip: ask room that face the parking area.

This charming guest house is located right outside of Rothenburg ob der Tauber Germany. Alex and his family own and operate this bed and breakfast on the side of a still working mill powered by water running down the creek. Breakfast is served downstairs in the dinning room. This place is outside of the city but you can walk to town in about 20 minutes. Very reasonably priced and definitely a different experience than staying in a standard hotel. Best sleep ever with the windows open listening to the sound of the water and the mill. There is no elevator so carry only the luggage you need up the stairs.

Room Tip: There is a large room that sleeps 4 on the top floor and it had it's own bathroom and shower and...
