When Americans travel throughout Europe they often find themselves experiencing a different level of accommodations. Such accommodations normally include smaller rooms with lesser amenities. While that was true with many of our hotels on this trip, the hotel Tillman in Rothenberg ob der Tauber is certainly much different. Located in the heart of the medieval walled city this lovely hotel is in a very convenient yet less commercial Street. It's orientation made it a comfortable place in which to reside during the very hot days of our visit. Because there were three of us traveling together we order the room for three persons and got this wonderful surprise of a very large room overlooking the street. The rooms furnishings or bright and hand-painted Alpine style beds, the bathroom was the largest we've seen. The bathroom featured a shower with a bathtub and the sink area was quite wide it was a heated towel rack and the floors granite it looks like the this hotel may have been recently remodeled absolutely nice.
Probably the one element which made us quite pleased upon our arrival is the fact that the staff at Hotel Tilman are extremely nice. We were fortunate to be received by a young lady whose name is Janet, who spoke very clear English and was most helpful to us. Our hotel was on the second floor and the of the elevator was available to us if we chose. We chose the stairs which were wide windy and very convenient. One of the additional amenities as the hotel is a fitness center in the basement of the hotel. Not going what to expect, we took the elevator down to the underground area and was quite impressed with a very complete fitness center. There were a few weight machines a full spa a sauna and a wonderful whirlpool tub which could comfortably fits two people. The fitness center was accessed by a card only so people wouldn't just wander on in.
Overall this hotel has been the gym. We chose it by accident but are very thrilled to have had the experience of this hotel and this fine city. I would not hesitate to recommend this as a first choice for anyone visiting Rothenberg on der Tauber.
