“Good but make sure to pay for the photo pass”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

This museum was very interesting and really had a lot of history that we were not expecting. You pay to get in and the have to pay extra for a photo pass if you want to take pictures -- this should just be included. They track down people who don't pay and aren't pleasant but it is difficult to know if you will want to take pictures because you have no idea what is really in the musuem when you go in. Just go ahead and pay for the pictures, it is interesting but we wish we would have known about it in advance.

“Fascinating museum about the history of the town”
Reviewed 7 July 2013

This is a gem. It is like a maze and there is so much there that you need a good 2 hours to take it all in. It is also very cheap. It cost myself and my dad only 7 euros!

It takes you through the history of Rothenburg from the early centuries right up to the 1800's. It tells you how the town was formed, problems that it had and how it progressed to being a walled city. You see so many things from cannons to spears to how people dressed in various times to paintings and murals. You need to be there to see them

Altogether a great bit of history in 1 building. One thing I found very strange is that in order to take photographs you need to pay €3!

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 30 June 2013 via mobile

Pretty good museum. There's a lot to see, so be selective with your time. And be sure to spend some time in the courtyard and the adjacent garden.

“Extensive collection”
Reviewed 20 June 2013

A great collection of art, artifacts from the city, and weapons from Germany's history. I was particularly impressed with the armory, which honestly rivaled that at the Tower of London in size. Definitely worth spending a couple of hours in, if you are interested in military history.

“A must-see for visitors to Rothenburg, but allow time”
Reviewed 29 October 2012

We were not prepared for the extensiveness of this museum. Advertised for the original kitchen used to serve the convent and the poor, this is only a small part of a vast collection of armament, weapons, dishware, glassware and religious art (Passion of Christ, Jewish culture). Allow a couple of hours to pass through, passing by what does not interest you.
