Much has already been said in the reviews so just wanted to cover the hilights.
1) It is right off the main center Marketplatz which is good and makes in in middle of everything
2) Being where it is makes it one block from Zur Holl (Hell) restaurant behind hotel as well as Kriminale Museum which is in the same block as Hell. It is also only a block from where all the festivals take place... Looking for convenience.. you found it.
3) No A/C but nearly no hotels have this... that being said I stayed in Room 164 across street from main hotel and it was on the corner so it had windows on two sides which provided a cross breeze. Cooled down room better than other rooms that friends had. One side faces the street so nice view. This room has large bathroom with shower and tub by the way. Room is clean but small and has 2 double beds in it. Many European hotels have double beds by the way.
3) If you like coffee then breakfast buffet is worth it. Pretty much coffee is about 2 Euro around town and you get at most 8 0unces and no free refills. So if you like to have three cups of coffee you are talking 6 Euro. For 12 Euro you get all the coffee you want plus a full breakfast both European and American style.so this is a good deal. We ate at 9:am, and were not hungry til dinner with maybe a small snack

I would stay here again for the money it is well worth it.

Room Tip: Room 164 in Annex is a corner room with view of main street and most important for summer windows on...

We enjoyed this hotel for its location, history and the rooms! It does not have a/c. But the temps were good for July and at night it cooled down. They do provide fans and the windows open. ( I am a warm natured person and I was comfortable.) The breakfast was very good. The staff was very helpful! It is located right in the town center. They have parking and they park it and bring it back to you. We even arrived back late at night and we were accommodated! I would stay again!!

This hotel was the perfect choice for us during our stay in Rothenburg. The hotel is very well run. Obviously parking is a problem in a city like this so they valet your car upon check-in, very nice service. The rooms are small but expected in a city this old. The outdoor areas of the hotel are great. I did think the restaurant was a little pricey with a limited menu considering we were traveling with picky teenagers. I would highly recommend taking the “watchman’s tour” this was certainly a highlight of the stay. Rothenberg is wonderful after all of the busses and tours leave for the day. The location of this hotel in my opinion might be the best in town. Would defiantly stay here again.

Room Tip: We had 3 rooms and all were very good, 2 across the street and in the main building, I did see a rev...

We stayed there in September 2013. It was a quaint and cozy little hotel, very colourful exterior like all the houses in Rothenburg and we were amused to see that one of the family crests on the exterior wall was a lobster. Though the building is more than four hundred years old, it has been well-maintained. When you walked in the hotel, it felt like you had stepped into another era. The room was like an attic, quite cute like the typical 19th-century German room with lovely little wood framed windows; it’s very clean, light, airy, and spacious with modern bathroom which is basic but spotless; despite the ancient medieval feel it had, the room felt very fresh without the slightest hint of musty odour. We slept well though the bed sometimes squeaked. Breakfast was lovely, coffee was great, it was strong, and each table has a big pot of coffee placed on it, no need to ask for a refill constantly, very efficient service.

This is a well run hotel in an excellent location. While our bedroom was a touch dated and could do with a more logical solution re bed and access to bedside lights, it was very quiet and clean with a great view over the city walls and countryside. The staff were helpful and efficient at all times and we ate in the restaurant one night and had an expensive but decent meal. The breakfast is outstanding and far too tempting! Charging 9 euros a day for wifi seems unusually expensive and none of the other hotels we stayed in even made a charge.

This is probably the oldest hotel I've ever stayed in. Despite being in such an old building, it had all the necessary amenities except for air conditioning. It was hot during our stay there and I wish they had more fans, but it's totally worth it. You're close to everything and can look out your windows onto the old town or an amazing view of the valley. I would absolutely stay here again.

However, we had an issue in the restaurant. First of all, the breakfast wasn't on par with normal hotel breakfasts in Germany. There is a lovely terrace with a view though for morning breakfasts, so don't miss that. We went to the restaurant for dinner once and the service was slow, and our head waitress was short with us until she realized she made a mistake on something, then apologized and brought us extra food as an apology, but we were really in a hurry and just wanted to go. The food was nothing to write home about.

Regardless of that, I would definitely stay here again.

A great hotel in the city centre with an old lovely atmosphere. Nice and clean rooms and a delicious breakfast (with sparkling Wine!!!). We tried their own restaurant as well and we did not get disapointed. we would surely visit this hotel again.
