This city was a beautiful oasis in Germany. We walked all around this medieval town and explored the museums and shops. Fun place for people-watching.

Thought I was on a movie set but no it was one of Europe’s most beautiful medieval towns and I was stunned by the narrow lanes which were so welcoming and which had seen so much for so long. If only those lanes could talk what stories could they tell and secrets they could reveal. It is full of wonderful restaurants, cafes and other shops which draw you in to look and buy.

This is an old walled city that is mostly preserved (parts rebuilt after WW II). It is lovely and so is the surrounding countryside. Filled with great information about medieval times, a fantastic Crime and Punishment Museum, good restaurants, wonderful bakeries, and tons of shopping if that is what you enjoy. Spent two days here but could easily have spent a week. Don't miss it. Wear comfy shoes...lots of cobblestone hills. Also don't miss the Night Watchman Tour!

Take the night watchman's walk. Corny, expensive, but informative. Lots of sidewalk cafes and restaurants make for good people watching.

Once you entered in this walled city, you get the feeling you want to see more. Every shops that lined the road has something different to offer. Although, we went there last May, you still can feel that it is like Christmas. It is the beginning of spring and the flowers are soo beautiful and colorful. Although, we did not catch any festivities and we had a limited time to explore the place, I m sure there are more to see.
