“great place to stay”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

We stayed in one of the front facing rooms and we had a wonderful view of the town. Beautiful, clean, efficient room. The staff were wonderful and friendly. Breakfast was included in the price of the stay and they offer a good variety. Everything always fresh. Location is perfect as well. I would be thrilled to stay here again!

We only stayed on night in Rothenburg and a very pleasant stay it was. Our room was in the old part of the Hotel, it was very well equipped with everything you needed the bathroom was quite large and spotlessly clean. We had the car with us and the owner parked it for us near by. There is an extra charge for this but it was only a few Euros and it was brought back for us in the morning after breakfast. The breakfast was of a very high standard with quality items on offer. As you can see from the photographs the Hotel is in a superb location very central to all attractions.

We only stayed one night, would have liked to stay longer to enjoy this beautiful medieval town.

You can drive right up to the front door and unloads luggage. Our car was valet parked for us in a nearby carpark.

We arrived early and were given a nice welcome, our luggage was stowed and a map was provided so we could explore.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. Very easy walking distance to all town square and all attractions.

There was a medieval festival on the weekend we were there, so there was a bit of street noise.

Rooms do not have air-conditioning. A fan was provided.
Wifi wasn't so good in our room. But worked fine around reception.

I really miss not having tea and coffee facilities in the rooms.

It also wasn't the most comfortable bed I have slept in!

We certainly would stay here again if ever in Rothenburg.

We stayed here 4 years ago and loved its quaint charm. Nothing had changed fortunately. Lovely room, very clean and comfortable and nice people. This time had supper in the hotel and was not disappointed. Great location although due to the one way and pedestrian only lanes a bit of a challenge by car even with the GPS. On any future trips I would get directions to the nearby car park.

Probably like most of the hotels there was no air conditioning and it was hot. We just slept with the windows open.

Lovely hotel in a perfectly charming town. We stayed in the third floor suite, the furnishing of which were a bit dated but not in a historic way. Great modern bathroom though! One of the largest we experienced in Europe. The room was very warm though, we opened the windows for breeze but found it a bit too nosy outside.

My travelling companion and I spent three marvelous nights at the Romantik Hotel Markusturm in Rothenberg ob der Tauber in early June 2014. This totally charming (without being "cutesy") hotel is well-located within the city walls. In addition to its proximity to Marktplaza it was right across the street from a small grocery store where we could buy fruit, cheese and beverages (it was the only such place we saw within the walls).

As many other reviewers mentioned we were given our choice of rooms which the "bellman" showed us. We were even offered an upgrade to a suite as we were staying three mid-week nights. The owner had warned us that tile work would begin on the ground floor patio at 7:30 a.m. but since we are early risers that was not an issue for us. The room was large, airy, impeccably clean and nicely furnished, The bathroom was gigantic with double sinks, tub, separate shower, and separate toilet.

The hotel's restaurant was superb. The buffet breakfast included waffles, fruits, cheese, smoked salmon, cold meats, German bread and rolls, etc. In addition every morning we were also offered eggs cooked to order.

We had purchased a package which included the accommodations, breakfast, a few tours including the Night Watchman's Tour (a must!) and two dinners. We had notr ealized that each of these dinners were five-course gourmet meals. Although there is a set menu for each the staff is happy to substitute if a dish is not to your liking. Both our dinners were absolutely superb and the equal of any upscale restaurant anywhere in the world.

All of these kudos aside, the most outstanding feature of this hotel is the service provided by every staff member, from the bellman who parked our car and brought it to us when we needed it (parking costs the princely sum of four euros a night) to the staff who brought coffee to our room early in the morning and ice for pre-dinner drirnks in the afternoon (and no charge for either service!) to the waitstaff with their friendly smiles and efficient service.

We both felt wonderfully well-taken care of and spoiled!

Room Tip: Ask if you can see a selection of rooms which seems to be common practice there!

Our stay started with a friendly greeting in the lobby. This hotel is in a phenominal location, and you can easily walk to any of the great sights in Rothenburg. The rooms were comfortable, just a little dated.
