My wife and I stayed on Room 15, which has a beautiful view to the valley beyond Rothenburg. The room was clean and nicely decorated, not a 5-star hotel furniture but everything you would expect for a stay in a wonderful small-town hotel. There is enough parking in front of the hotel, plus a private garage to leave your car and finding the hotel is very easy.

The staff was amazing and friendly, including the gentleman in the entrance, Otto (which I suspect is the owner). Although breakfast hours had finished, Otto kindly told us that the lady in the breakfast room would serve us and she did. This is the kind of service you'll never see in a big hotel chain.

I would definitively come back to this hotel and recommend it to any friend that visits the town.

Burghotel is very easy to access at the end of the quiet Klostergasse. This is the same road you enter the old town through although it is known as Galgengasse at the beginning. The hotel has parking out front and a private garage. Despite the quiet location it is only a short walk to all the sights including the Markt, museums and the old town walls.
Our room the Tower Suite was enormous with quality furnishings and heaps of space but the curtains are not very thick. Down the hall was an equally huge bathroom with separate bath and shower and separate toilet. It was well stocked with bath stuff although the towels and tissues did not fit the quality of the rest of the room. Importantly the room had coffee facilities.
We had views north, west and south taking in the old town walls, the stunning Tauber Valley and Detwang. You could even see Toppler Castle.
Breakfast was in a beautiful cosy room but the cool weather meant the small terrace set into the town wall was not available. Again the room had fantastic views down the valley. The room had some nice touches such as candles and models of Rothenburg buildings on the mantelpiece. The spread was small but all quality including croissants, salmon and very good coffee. The breakfast lady on the first morning made it all the more enjoyable.
This is a smaller and more personal hotel. Front desk was courteous and very happy to help you in any aspect required. Unlike many hotels they asked the all important question on departure, that of "how did we enjoy our stay". Fantastic was the response.

The Burg Hotel is a charming, historic hotel in the perfect location. The Burg is actually built into the city's wall, so it sits atop a hill overlooking the picturesque Tauber River Valley. To take in the view, guests can sit in chaises atop the wall or walk through the hotel's private garden.

Our triple room #1 did not even face the river valley, but it was still set in a charming atmosphere. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was huge and modern. And the bed was the most comfortable I stayed in over a 10-day journey around Europe. My husband and I stayed in the bedroom and a family friend slept in the living area. It was plenty of room for us all.

Rothenburg is a special town full of interesting artifacts to explore. I recommend the Burg Hotel without any reservations for your stay.

My mom and I stayed in the family apartment with my 2 teenage boys...ages 15 and 17. We were separate from the main hotel, on the top floor. We carried our luggage up the winding staicase, but it was certainly worth the effort. We had a lovely view, plenty of room for everyone. Our only complaint with the room is that we could not get the kettle to work. We walked down to the main hotel for breakfast. We had fruit, cereal, yogurt and breads for breakfast. (I believe there were some lunchmeats also available) The view was lovely! Check in/out was a breeze.

We loved Kathe Wohlfahrts, The Crime and Punishment Museum. I picked up a Steiff-Meistertrunk Teddybear at Teddy's Rothenburg. I love him! We were there for the Christmas markets and were not disappointed. Loved the crepe's with Nutella and Cherries - YUM!

Reserved Suite 0, in June of 2007 for three days over Christmas. In spite of a confirmation and a reconfirmation, upon arrival we were told the suite had been given to a family of six and we were relegated to a double and a single room., two floors apart. Our protestations met with a deaf ear. The poor woman unlucky enough to be at the desk when we checked in was not to blame and where were we to go two days before Christmas? So we "lumped it" and while the management did try to "kiss butt" by giving us small gifts, free entrance to a museum and no charge for mini-bar consumption (had we known we would have drunk more) the whole experience left us with a very negative attitude toward what culd have been a very good experience. We planned in advance, were assured by e-mailed confirmation and re-confirmation that we would have the accommodations requested and yet were disappointed. It seems that the "almighty euro" is alive and well at this hotel. They must have charged more to that family than the three of us would have paid. We were traveling with our 17 year old grandson and knew Christmas Day would be a quiet one and so we reserved the suite to be able to relax together. We were even assured that we could use cooking facilities should we need them. All of this advance planning was for naught. Do not trust the Burghotel to honor their commitment. If they have a more lucrative offer after your request is received you are definitely [--]!! But then Rothenburg is such a popular town they probably just don't care. They can always rent to walk-ins.! Still, this is a very poor business practice no matter what.
