Situated inside the walled medieval town, you could walk to all the attractions and restaurants.we stayed two nights in the hotel and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The hotel is starting to show its age in the bedrooms and dinning area. The breakfast was okay though not a huge selection and one morning there were no croissants left even though it was realitivly early. There is off street parking at the rear of the hotel at no charge. The rooms are quite spacious with a good size bathroom.

This was our first visit here, the hotel was found through internet, it was really central and well located. The restaurant had been leased out until the end 2013. Closed Mondays. Breakfas WAS available. The room was really cosy, warm and well-equipped, clean and with a fine view. A 4 poster bed ! 100s of TV channels if you have time. Some personnel did not speak English.

Room Tip: Try room 20 perfect !

We arrived at the front of the hotel after a somewhat tortuous route through Rothenbug lead by our sat-nav(very stressful in place when you have a biggish car) to find a easy parking place to unload our luggage at the front of the hotel. The lady at the reception was just great, one of the best I have ever encountered. We had a very quick check in and the nice lady directed us to the overnight parking place at the back of the hotel. In a old town this is not as simple as one would expect. After more narrow streets, trying to avoid running over other tourist gaping at the marvels of this town, we reached the place only to find the same nice lady directing us to the right spot. Fantastic!!! Now to the hotel proper: JUST LOVELY!! The room was very nice, the bathroom even better. Tidiness and cleanliness was to the standard, or more, than one would expect from a German hotel. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant where the service and the food was fist class.
I have no qualms to strongly recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Rothenburg for a few days or even longer.
If we are ever again in that part of the country now I know where to base our self.

This was our second visit to Rothenburg ob der Tauber so we wanted a quieter hotel than previously. Location is near the Burg garden so it is away from the main square and throngs of people. A charming hotel run by a friendly, helpful family and long time residents of Rothenburg. We had a large room on the first floor which was newly refurbished with all modern comforts but with medieval design elements in the décor - just beautiful. Bathroom enormous, new, modern and ultra-clean.

Breakfast in hotel's b'fast room is good and service is excellent. There is also a quiet secluded patio at the back of the hotel where one can sit with a drink and escape the bustle of this busy town.

The restaurant in the hotel is a separate business and not well run - service is patchy by staff lurking out of sight at the back of the restaurant. Food is average - we had one meal here on arrival but ate elsewhere for the rest of the five day stay. It is a pity as it could add so much to this charming hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor are quieter than first floor.

Our first overnight stay on the Romantic Road. Lovely hotel centrally located in the heart of the town. The room was spacious and comfortable with a good bathroom. We stayed on a Monday night so there was no restaurant or bar available in the hotel but there were plenty of options nearby.
There were plenty of choice for breakfast in a typically styled Bavarian dining room.
The staff were very friendly and spoke great English and nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel has a spacious car park at the rear.

This is a wonderful hotel. The location is perfect- hard to have a bad location in Rothenberg, but this was just off the main square so it was quiet at night and in the morning.
The hotel and room was absolutely beautiful. We had a deluxe room and it was huge. It had tons of beautiful old details, like cornice molding and old mirrors. The hotel is over 600 years old and looks it except it is in perfect condition. We were here during September and it was rainy, but in nicer weather they have a courtyard with flowers to enjoy breakfast and sitting.
Breakfast is great and the staff couldn’t be nicer.

Room Tip: We had a delux room on the second floow that faced the street. It was wonderful

This was our most ‘interesting’ and nearly disastrous hotel visit.
I have progressive Multiple Sclerosis and whilst I can walk very short distances with the aid of two sticks, it takes great effort and I can only really manage 50 – 75 metres.

We arrived at the walled town of Rothenburg on Sunday 8th September 2013 right in the middle of the Rothenburg ob der Tauber - Imperial City Festival. This meant that the entire city was shut to ALL traffic there was nowhere to park and the entire place was heaving!

We went around the walled city trying to find a way in, but all entrances were closed and would remain closed until it was over that night. Eventually I decided that we simply had go in so drove around the barriers and kept following the directions from our fantastic Sat Nav which had guided 2,500 miles of our European tour to each hotel entrance. We had some very strange looks from the participants and visitors as we very slowly navigated the tiny, narrow cobbled streets, fortunately most visitors were well lubricated with local beer which was being sold in the streets and everywhere and they smiled at us as we slowly worked our way towards our hotel. Eventually the road ahead was completely blocked with stalls and beir kellers and so we were forced to stop. Sue, left on foot with the Sat Nav and soon returned saying the hotel was only a few hundred metres up this road and down the next. Fortunately, we had taken my Luggie a fantastic folding electric mobility scooter, so we took this out of the boot and continued on our way wending our way around, singing Germans with Steins waving in their hands.

When we arrived at the hotel, it was frantic with people everywhere, fortunately we were greeted by Sandy, a native of Rothenburg who spent 14 years in America and spoke perfect English – well as good as any American! She was fantastic and immediately offered to walk to the car with Sue and bring our luggage back. We were shown to our room and, after dropping our cases decided that we had to explore and enjoy this experience. It was a totally unique experience, but impossible for anyone with a mobility disability. Although I had my small electric scooter, the roads were cobbled and there were hardly any drop pavements. With entertainers in the road, I was forced back onto the pavement, which meant, lifting the scooter up onto the pavement. We decided the best course of actions was to return to the hotel that had tables and chairs outside and see if we could get a table and enjoy a drink – or three - We did!

Our hotel room was great and, air-conditioned which was much welcomed. Like some other German hotels, the bar and restaurant were separate which meant you could not put drinks on your room tab. Sandy was our Knight(ess) in shining Armour and without her, I think we would have given-up.

The hotel is right on Herngasse and very central to anything you want to do in Rothenburg, but you need to be able bodied. It is quite unique and to explore this ancient town this hotel wold be ideal. It was a great surprise to us, as the picture we had seen of the hotel suggested it was in a rural location.

The room was very comfortable and it did have a lift, although there is a step up into the hotel and then steps up into our room.

Dinner was typically Bavarian, pork, pork or pork with potato noodles etc. It had more of a café feel to it rather than a hotel restaurant, but the food was fine as was the wine (except the German’s cannot make a good red wine – nothing contentious there then).

If you want to ‘do’ Rothenburg this hotel is great, if you want to experience Rothenburg ob der Tauber .. The Imperial City Festival, then this is the hotel as you are right in amongst it. However, if you are looking for a peaceful, rural hotel – this is not the one.

Thank you Sandy for making it all work and for letting us use their parking space when at last all the revellers, actors and markets stalls had packed-up and left.

Two final comments:

1. It would have been nice if the hotel had warned us that this festival was on and that the entire town was shut to traffic. My wife had discussed my disability and so they must have realised that we could not get into the town whilst the festival was on
2. We appreciated the parking place when the streets were cleared, but after all they had put us through not warning us that we would not be able to get a car in, we thought charging us 5 Euros to park a little mean.
