We rolled into Rothenburg obT after arriving in Frankfurt that morning. I was a bit concerned about locating the hotel in the tight winding streets, but Walter greeted us - by name - at the gate of the hotel. He welcomed our family of four, got us settled in our room and gave us directions to the key spots in town. Rothenburg is wonderful after the tour busses have departed for the day. The room was comfortable and roomy. Free WiFi was great. The breakfast in the morning was ample and provided enough choices to satisfy each of us. A great little place to stay within walking distance to everything the town has to offer.

We found this hotel to be just the right thing for Rothenburg - as other people have said, the free parking is a great benefit and you can easily walk to anywhere within the Rothenburg walls. Our room was large and comfortable, with a large private bathroom - 3 of us had plenty of space to spread out. The breakfast was excellent - beautiful little yogurt parfaits and scrambled eggs(!) in addition to the usual German breakfast. The breakfast room is charmingly decorated, and the host provided us with an excellent suggestion on where to go for dinner. Would recommend highly!

Convenient in quiet area of town, helpful sightseeing suggestions offered in friendly manner, GREAT breakfast, parking off (in courtyard) or on street, very good value. All amenities you would need are available, including free WI FI. We were a family of 4 and stayed 2 nights. Wish we had a longer time there. And I wish I had more German than the few phrases I had, but not to worry Walter is fluent in English and puts you at ease.

We stayed here only one night but liked the place very much. We felt us welcome as our name was on the blackboard on the wall. Nice and spacious rooms. Good location near the city centre and parking places in the inner yard. Very good breakfast.

We would love to offer a positive review as many others have on this hotel, but unfortunately, like another member also experienced, we were unable to stay here due to the hotel losing our reservation. Our cab drops us off around 3 pm and we show up and the clerk very politely explains that they seemed to have lost our reservation and have no other rooms. I'm not going to ramble on about this, but just wanted it noted that we will not be booking here in the future and you should be very cautious of doing the same for fear of not having anywhere to stay. He did call around for us and got us other accommodations at the Golden Rose, which was nice, but it was an inconvenience nonetheless. Plus, it was a bit of a walk and we got a little turned around trying to find the Golden Rose. He gave us a bottle of wine for our troubles, but we ended up leaving it behind in Rothenburg, and would have much more appreciated a compensated cab ride to the other hotel since we had luggage with us. Stay elsewhere or double check your reservation before committing. I know this stuff happens, and again, he was very apologetic and friendly, but it's just not a good experience to have to deal with.

Rothenburgt is a lovely city but the very thing you go for, the medieval centre, can make it a bit of a nightmare for a driver. The Kreuzerhof Hotel Garni provides the answer. Only five minutes from the main square but with parking available both on the street outside and in the hotel’s courtyard. The owner speaks excellent English and is very helpful. The room was spacious clean although a little dated. The only problem was that the water in the shower took an age to become warm, it was never really hot. The breakfast was very good with a good buffet choice including hot dishes. Would certainly use this hotel again.

Our room was very large. It had a large poster bed with a gauze hanging around it. The other positive was being on the ground floor. both of these became negatives with the extreme heat that happened during our visit. The poster bed with canopy blocked any air movement. Being on the ground floor meant that we could not keep our windows and curtains open, further causing the room to be miserably hot. The biggest plus to me was the walk in shower with the large showerhead. I loved the shower! Otherwise the bathroom was really tiny and hard to maneuver around things. The room was big enough to have a couch plus a set of individual chairs and a large antique-looking wardrobe, in addition to the canopy bed. The staff recommended a couple of good eating options for lunch and dinner. It is a hike from the train station outside the city walls, and seemed longer due to the extreme heat, but the walk is not difficult. Breakfast was superb and varied. We wished we had more than one morning to enjoy it.
