“A Great Stay”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

Excellent location just down the street from the town square, easy to find. Private, secure parking in their garage just up the street for a small fee. The young man at the desk was very friendly and helpful.

Our room had been remodeled earlier this year and it was extremely clean and very nice. Cute red print comforters and pillows. Nice big towels in the bathroom. Good size room with a closet and a couch. Free wifi. Nice breakfast in the morning with meats, cheeses, yogurt, pastries, coffee, hot chocolate.

No elevator, but the stairs were very easy to climb, even with our luggage.

Would definitely recommend!

The staff was very helpful during our 1-night stay here. The room was comfortable (we had a room with 2 twin beds and a nice view), and they even helped with parking nearby. Breakfast was tasty, but we may have done better if we'd woken up earlier since many of the amazing croissants/pastries had already been eaten by those who awoke before us!
We also bought some cookies/pastries from the cafe when we arrived which were delicious.
The hotel is within the city walls and an easy walk to all of the sights. It's really nice (as others have mentioned) to spend the night as the city changes completely. Most of the tourists leave and your left with a wonderful quiet town to enjoy.

Although we did not stay at the hotel, My Wife and I ate lunch at the cafe on Saturday Oct 5, 2013.
Nicely decorated, with beautiful wood stairs leading down to the toilets located in the basement - the bathrooms have a terrible Uric Acid stench.
The Goulash Soup I had was great, the pork they cooked for my Wife was tasteless with a thin, watery gravey.
There are 2 dining areas, with the bar between. When you sit at a particular seat at a particular table you have a direct view behind the bar.....My Wife was sitting at that spot and observed the waiter topping off my tap beer with water. She guessed 3/4 beer, 1/4 water. She observed him providing this service for other diners - perhaps he feels the diners cannot handle full strength German beer ?
Rather than complaining in person and risk them spitting in our food, I did not leave a tip, but voice my complaint here.

Room Tip: I did not stay here but I have learned from experience that it is best to inspect the room before yo...

This hotel is in a great location, right inside one of the gates. Parking is just outside the wall and only about a half block away. This is a family owned hotel, and the young man who helped us was very helpful and pleasant. He even guided us in our car to parking and helped with luggage. The family also runs a great bakery and restaurant at the lower level of the hotel. Breakfast was good as well. Hotel Uhl is a great place to stay.

There is no elevator as the hotel is in an old building. We try to pack light so that we can stay in lovely places such as this village.

We stayed here on 9-28-2013 and the cost was $122.72USD and included parking and breakfast. We had the option of paying in dollars. Breakfast and parking was included.

This was a great place to stay in this lovely, ancient village. The son was exceptional in his service and friendliness. Some reviews criticize the owners, but they are an older couple and appear to not speak much English. The son greeted us and checked us out. There is no lift, but we were only on the first level with only a few stairs. There is a restaurant and bakery on the street level. We had a lovely view from our room on the back side of the hotel. The view of the old roof tops and the green forests below was lovely. The restaurant has a west facing outdoor area that would be great for dinner on a cooler evening. Unfortunately, we did not eat at this restaurant.

Room Tip: We had a back room with an excellent view of forests and rooftops.

If you visit Rothenberg ob der Tauber, I recommend spending a night in the center of the town. The town is crowded during the day - sometimes crowds of people so thick you can hardly window shop. But most of them jump on buses and drive away in the early evening, leaving the remaining visitors the wonderful evening hours to stroll the town. We picked the Hotel Café Uhl for our hotel. They have 12 nice rooms on three floors in the center of town. We don't mind stairs, so we picked one of the attic rooms - complete with sloped ceilings, two twin beds tucked under the eaves, and a beautiful marble bathroom with shower. Our room was at the back of the house overlooking the beautiful Tauber valley. It was very quiet. The room included a tv, upholstered chair, small wardrobe with safe, and a desk facing the window. Garage parking is available for a small fee. Wi-Fi is free. Robert, the baker, outdoes himself for breakfast which is included in the rental fee. The breakfast is typical German with bread, cheese, meat, yogurt, dry cereal, and some interesting vegetable dishes which I thought were delicious.

Room Tip: a room at the back of the house might be quieter

Fantastic family run hotel, in the middle of one of Rothemburg's postcards.
Great breakfast and nice view from the rooms.
It's the second time we stay on this hotel.
The only problems are the many stairs and the shower a little small.

Stayed at this hotel with friends early September. The location was perfect and we got the rooms at the back that we had requested. Room was clean and comfortable with a small but adequate bathroom. View from the window was lovely and coming from the new world where such outlooks don't exist I always love to open the windows in a hotel like this and take in such a view. A bit of a haul up the stairs with suitcase but even though we were senior travelers it was quite manageable. Parking was close by and caused no inconvenience. Breakfast was good and had a nice choice of fresh fruit. We enjoyed this little town very much and would stay in this Hotel if we had the good fortune to return again some day. Would recommend hotel to other looking for a very good value stay.

Room Tip: Our room at the back of the hotel was quiet and had a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. If...
