“Well located place run by a hospitable family”
Reviewed 22 January 2014

Since Rothenburg is such a historical gem, it is quite compulsory to live in a very traditional local hotel instead of modern franchised ones. Rothenburg offers plenty of these family running pensions. Pension Becker is just on Rosengasse. If you enter the town from eastern gate you need to turn right at this lane, and Becker is couple of metres away on left side.
The room is quite small for a couple, but anyway we didn't expect much. Room is tidy and clean. Ours was facing to the Rosengasse and the whole time was very quiet except for the early morning when the truck drove along the lane to collect wastes from each family.
Location is very nice. Walking to all major attractions in 10 minutes. Never rush in this lovely medieval town. Take your time and explore it slowly.
Di Vivo family was very kind and nice. They accept credit card and charge it by a manual machine, not electronic one. Which means they need to go the bank to deposit in person at the counter to receive the money. I still kept the page for me from that manual card charger.
Parking: I'm not sure if the Pension has its private parking area, but you can just park the car along Rosengasse if you are lucky to find one. We arrived around 4pm and there were several places. But later we found all places were occupied maybe because people returned home from working.
Generally, a clean, reasonable priced, hospitable place. High recommended

The B&B was close to the city center. The rooms were outdated but functional with 2 bedrooms to house a family of five. the street noise at night could have been less. The breakfast room was very small for the number of guests

Room Tip: do not choose a room locate don the ground floor at the street ; quite noisy

First, understand what we were doing. My wife and I decided to do what my friends did 30 years ago, take a small backpack and a Eurail pass to travel around part of Europe in a simple fashion. We looked for decent, basic hotels within walking distance (or an easy bus or tram ride) from the train station and/or from the main attractions. We usually spent one night in each place and moved on. We did not spend much time in the hotels, so we required only a decent place to sleep, bathe, and wash out some clothes in the sink. If breakfast was included, all the better.

We loved Rothenburg and this inn. The woman who runs it was very friendly and helpful with good English. Any location within the city walls would be fine, but this one is on the side of the train station so better for us. The room was basic, clean, and sufficient for our needs. It has been retrofitted with a bathroom, with the shower and sink in the room itself, but they worked fine. We had a room on the street, which had a charming view. The breakfast was basic and sufficient.

It is a small well runed hostel, it's in the center, close to everything. The rooms have a nice size, you have bathroom and shower in the room which is great. Staff is really helpful and nice. The only downside is that they don't have internet, and being such a small town that dies really early, it got a bit bored being at the hostel with no internet. Other than that it was perfect.

Pension Becker is easy to find just around the corner from the Galgentor. We paid for parking at the public lot just outside the gate because we didn't know, but it turns out they can help you find some free parking. The staff was very helpful and friendly, even loaning us an umbrella when my husband forgot one. The bed was very comfortable, especially for the price (at this price I usually expect it to be a bit hard). Our room had three lace-curtained windows with a view over the street - very cute! (Note though: cars on cobblestones are really loud!) The shower was directly in the bedroom, which is actually great for me since my greatest hotel bathroom peeve is when the shower is too close to the toilet. ;) However, that may be a problem for people who are intent on complete shower privacy. Things were definitely a bit run-down & the hallway smelled of cologne which is why I give 4 instead of 5 stars, but the price and location can't be beat and this place is a great deal. I would stay there again.

We walked up to this place after learning about it at the TI (the board that tells you B&B vacancies) and we are glad we waited 5 minutes outside for the owner to get there after ringing them. It's well situated just inside the wall. The price is competitive. We were offered a family room for the price of the double and it was spacious and cozy. We can overlook the narrow stairs (no elevator) and squeaky hallway for the cute home experience. We were fine having parked outside the wall, but they would have tried to arrange something inside for us. Breakfast was hearty, though the dining hall can be small based on how many people are staying. Self-serve mini bar offered cheap drinks. The only downside is the check-out time being a little early for a relaxing morning in a B&B, but it could just be the Rothenburg standard.

Our room was more like a bed in a bathroom than a bedroom with facilities! But perfectly adequate for a short stay.

It's very close to the centre, and we had no trouble parking free about 50 yards away, next to the wall.

The breakfast is a bit chaotic when the house is fairly full, but no real problem, except the lack of eggs.

Hosts are very friendly and helpful.

The prices are excellent for this town, but be prepared for a little compromise.
