We stayed at Pension Elke for one night to explore Rothenburg. Having stayed in B&Bs in both America and Europe, I have to say this is one of the more charming ones we have stayed at. To begin, the location was ideal, just a block or so from the main square of Rothenburg. Another major bonus for us was the fact the owner of the B&B also owned the small grocery beneath the B&B. Not only was this helpful when we wanted a snack or water before heading out, but when we left the next morning the owner made us some great sandwiches to take along on our ride. The building itself is beautiful, and the hearty breakfast is served in the old attic (really wish I had got a picture of this; it was delightfully quaint!). Our room was quite large for a B&B and had a private bathroom. Our view overlooked a side street (see pictures) and was not noisy at all. A couple of things to be aware of: We had to park outside Rothenburg and walk in with our luggage. Not sure if this is true for all hotels/B&Bs in the area, but it was not too far of a walk. Because the B&B is over the grocery store, the rooms and breakfast room are on the second and third floors, so keep in mind there is no elevator. I am also pretty sure that a fan was provided (no a/c), but soap was not. None of these things were deal-breakers for us, and we would certainly stay here again!
