“Small and elegant”

Small but well kept secluded garden. If you don't look for it, you'll miss it. Location is well shown on the plan next to the photoshop in the main area.

“One of Germanys Great Views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

In keeping with Wurtzburg itself this is a stunning place to visit. The experience of getting there across the pedestrian bridge walking up to the Marienberg and through its ancient courtyards and buildings is well worth the effort to view the architecture art and views but then to emerge at the end to a garden so beautiful in itself with a view across the Main and all of Wurzburg before you that is overwhelming. We had a clear sunny day the gardens and flowers were in full bloom it was perfect. We spent about four hours and only saw a fraction of what is available make sure you leave yourself plenty of time. The museum alone needs a couple of hours. A day for the Residenz and its gardens and another full day for Marienburg

“Beautiful place for a walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Beautiful place to go for a walk and have an amazing view of the city and the river. It takes about 20 min walk from the city. A must see if you visit Wurzburg. There is also a museum up there.

“5* view but no flowers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

It's a very nice place and the view is absolutely striking. We visited it at the end of April and to my disappointment the parterres were completely empty. I expected colourful flowers but there was nothing at all. If not in April, then when? The Princes' Garden is on the "Schütt", next to the Fortress east side. Probably the garden was created at the time of Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp von Schönborn (16th c.) because his coat of arms appears on the terrace balcony. The present design is after Johann Philipp von Greiffenklau (1700) and was restored in 1937. There are 8 parterre sections and a fountain. There were 4 mythological statues probably depicting the four seasons. Two of them are copies now. On the upper terraces the 2 pavilions date also from 1700. Even if you don't want to visit the 2 Museums, you may spend a day here without any entrance fees because all the grounds around the Marienberg Fortress are free! And you can't have such a view very often! I wish you a cloudless day for your visit!

The garden is lovely especially during the summer time when it is full in bloom & the view of the river Main & the city of Würzburg is absolutely breathtaking.
