“Good location”
Reviewed 1 December 2011

We stayed here while doing a weekend roadtrip, hitting verious German Xmas markets. Typical European hotel with small rooms and even smaller shower (no bath). The good news was that there was no gap in the double bed. Breakfast was better than normal German offerings. Bread was fresh and there were hot items available. Excellent preserves! Only problem was on check-out where the line got very long because nobody was manning the desk. Tram stop is less than a block away (just across from the adult store) and was easy to get into town for the afternoon-evening. The front desk provided maps and directions on how to get around. Free parking available.

We should have a night with our 4 month old baby on the way to skiing in Austria. When we got into our room it smelled of smoke. We had ordered a non-smoking room, and there was a non smoking sign on the door. We considered finding another hotel but were very tired after a long drive from Copenhagen. So we went into the restaurant and feared the worst but was pleasantly surprised by the meal. When we got back in the room my husband pulled the curtains - which meant that the smell was unbearable. We had to sleep with an open door to the balcony, which lay out to a very noisy and busy road. It was the worst hotel experience ever!

A bit old-fashioned hotel. Good for a one-night sleep, but not to stay for more than one night. Rooms are not that clean and worn out (not to bad).

Room Tip: on the backside of the hotel

The rooms were clean, it was right next to the tram into town, the receptionist was ver helpful and friendly and breakfast (even though it was not included and was a little expensive for a buffet) was delicious!

Nice smart hotel, easy to find - helpful reception staff. One of our main criteria for selecting the hotel was the secure parking (they have their own car park and also an underground parking garage, which is charged for at something like 6 euros a night.) We we travelling by motorbike which is why it was important to us - bikes are fairly nickable so we didn't want to leave it on the street or in a public car park - many of the hotels in town don't actually have their own private parking - hence the Post. We booked a double room via booking.com which was 158 euro for 2 nights in May - but it didn't include breakfast (i'm not sure what an American breakfast comprises of, so i didn't fancy one anyway - Maple Syrup on bacon just sounds wrong to me). We didn't have breakfast in the hotel at all (just coffee), due to the additional cost of 9.50 euros each, so can't really comment on it. We just picked up bakery stuff when we got into town on the tram (tramstop right outside). The room was reallyquite large - we had booked a double room but they gave us a triple room on the 4th floor - it was spacious but a bit odd as it was in the eaves& the single bed was seperated from the double bed in a separate alcove, yet there wasn't a door to separate the areas properly, and the small TV was at the wrong end of the room to see it well from the double bed. There was quite a sinister painting on the wall too. The bathroom had a shower - but a really good one. The owner of the hotel clearly has a 'quirky' sense of humour as the lift in that end of the building is fitted out in an 'amusing' fashion. I won't spoil it for you - wait & see.

All in all no complaints, a good base for Wuerzburg, especially if you are driving.

The location is away from the attractions of Wurzburg, namely the city center and the Residence. If you have a car and staying a short time I would say save some money and stay here. If you want to explore wurzburg then you will have to pay more to get the same quality or get less for the same price. That being said I thougt it was a nice place with clean, american sized rooms and nice bath. Parking is free as long as they have space in the lot, if that is full and it nearly was when I was there, then you have to pay 6 Euros to park in there garage. Overall since we had a car and were staying a short time and were not going to any sort of wine festival it was worth it.

Well I am travelling a lot but this is the very first time that I did not feel welcome as guest and the owner gave me the feeling that he does not like foreigners. I had a 2-day-seminar there so after a ride on night-train I arrived very early as our seminar started at 9 am. Instead of "Sorry, we are fully booked out so we are unable to give you a key now. Can we take care of your bags while you are doing sightseeing..." - His words: "Have fun whatever you are doing until 3 pm". They made advertising for WiFi but it's not available in the meeting rooms. Which business man is not interested to check e-mails during a seminar in a meeting room? At 3 pm I got my key: no air-condition but you cannot open the windows either as this is a 4-lane-main street with 2 tram-tracks. There was a switch for air exchange but it did not work and no excuse when I asked the receptionist to check it. Bathroom so small: maybe against UN-Humarn Rights Convention... There is even no space to put your soap in the shower. You need ot be a body artist if you want use the toilet as you cannot handle the toilet paper without acrobatic excersises. The TV set was a great, the only highlight in the room, flat screen but the programmes are not organized like stated. And a lot of programmes with bad view. Breakfast: they did not fill up the buffet right on time: so no sausage was available anymore and if you request. in 10 minutes. Cold cuts I gave up. She just took away the plate without replacing. And it was 90 minutes before the buffet closes. Nobody comes to your table to offer you service for beverages. You must ask for service. The restaurant was nearly empty. So a Japanese Group sit where they want. They were not allowed and put like cattle in one seperate room - without need. At lunch we got oboviously the left-over of the day before: wild mushrooms again. Afternoon cake: same like yesterday. Warm "Ice"-Tea. It was great that it was organic from their own garden. But that's the only highlight. Coffee beans ran out and so you get only hot water. Milk storage unacceptable as you cannot use it anymore for your coffee without becoming sick.

They did not give me the feeling that I was welcome and never treated me as guest buy enemy.

So foreigners visiting Würzburg: I am sure that there are nicer places to stay.
