We joined this tour at the Brandenburg Gate. There were a lot of people waiting to do the Free Tour but we were split into goups very quickly and we found ourselves led by a guide called Kim. The tour is advertised as a 3.5 hour walking tour but it was probably more like 4 hours with a break just over half way for coffee.
The tour covered all the important sites and Kim was very knowledgeable and her love of Berlin and it's history is very apparent.
She gave us a lot of good tips both during and at the end of the tour about where to eat and the best places to visit and what to avoid.
The tour really is free - you only tip at the end if you enjoyed it and we were very happy to so do.
I would definitely recommend this tour and would suggest that you do it on your first day to learn as much as possible about what Berlin has to offer with guides who clearly know their stuff and are very happy to share this knowledge in a fun and interesting way.
