We stayed at Mittendrin for 4 nights in mid July 2016. Believe me when I tell you, this is an absolutely fantastic place, with a wonderful hostess called Sabine.
The bedroom (Romantic Room) was delightful, spacious, with stylish decor and very comfortable bed. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room and mineral water was provided every day. The bathroom was a good size and had everything you could possibly want, from shower gels to cotton buds. It was spotlessly clean at all times. Slippers and dressing gowns were even provided.
The communal breakfast table was very welcoming, with an amazing array of delicious foods, ranging from cold meats and cheeses to fruit salads and Danish Pastries and breads. There was an egg provided each morning, cooked differently and a good selection and teas and fresh coffee - constantly replenished by our hostess. Sabine clearly went to a lot of trouble as the breakfast was so well presented and this set us up nicely for our busy day ahead.
The location of Mittendrin is ideal as it is very central (close to the Tiergarten) and is a short walk from the Wittenbergplatz U-bahn station. The neighbourhood feels very safe, and has some great restaurants nearby, should you prefer to eat locally. If you want to sample authentic German cuisine, then we would recommend Krombach just around the corner. This place is brilliant, has an extensive menu and is very reasonably priced.
We were terribly sad to leave Mittendrin but no doubt will return one day. Sabine is a truly delightful lady who clearly knows how to make her guests feel very much at home, and we left feeling like she was a good friend.
