So familiar to many of us because of the cold war and spy films/TV. Worthy of a visit. Bits quite commercial. Some good open air factual displays nearby. Keep your wits about you as lots of scammers and pick pockets in the immediate area. That charity collector or clip board toting petition person is distracting you whilst a mate relieves you of something. BE WARNED! Don't let it you stop you visiting the area but it was more obvious here than any where else in Berlin.

I’m led to believe it’s the Original checkpoint and with the images all around the area, I’d suggest it probably is. The museum is only a few yards past the checkpoint but at €14.50 and €5 for audio it was one of the dearest museums to visit. Everything else is around €5-7 entry.
There was no specific layout to the museum so I got lost a few times and muddled up with the audio. Id recommend not buying the audio as a result.

Neat to see the iconic / historical place that I’d seen in photos for years. It felt like the mood was sort of ruined by the costumed “military” people in front of it posing for photos with tourists. If that’s your thing you’ll be happy to have the picture. It’s in the middle of a very busy street so be careful / mindful of traffic when you are walking around. I read mixed reviews about the museum next to it & decided not to go for the price (€14) – there is more information posted along the enclosed area across the street that’s free. The gift shop was quite large & comprehensive though.

Lot’s of information about the famous wall. The history was told with so many moving pictures. Makes you think that the walls cannot divide people for ever. Something for mankind to learn from.

But very commercialized. I would see this on your way out of town. Not a lot to see. Honestly probably not a big deal unless you remember this from your youth
