Leonardo Royal Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz

A nice hotel close to the Alexanderplatz, the room was functional and clean. But when I announced at the day of arrival, that I have leave on day earlier due to a urgent rescheduled appointment, the management was not willed to accept this an d ask for full payment. I think, a business hotel should act more flexible...... Even 50% discount for the unused night would be a sign of good will.
Me and my staff will not come back. Fortunately Berlin have a lot of alternatives.
P.S. WiFi is only available for a charge of 11 EUR / day! Much to expensive!

The Leonardo Royal Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz, a 4-star property, is centrally located and near Berlin’s iconic TV Tower. The exterior conveys a long and rich history but the interior is modern, sophisticated, and the hotel offers a number of services and amenities that are difficult to match at other similarly priced places. Reserve directly with the Leonardo via their website as there are discounts and special packages not available elsewhere. During my last trip, for example, the property included complimentary breakfast daily. Admittedly, most hotel breakfasts are horrific (some make the Bates motel resemble the Ritz Carlton.) The Leonardo, however, features fresh pastries, fruit, meats and cheeses, yogurt, cereals, and eggs prepared a number of ways. The espresso beverages were as equally good, and the staff were more than gracious in allowing us to take our coffees in “to-go” cups.

The Leonardo’s main restaurant, Vitruv, serves Mediterranean and Asian fusion cuisine that is neither fussy or pretentious. The lounge, Leo90, pictured, serves great mixed drinks with just the right amount of trance music in the background and at the perfect volume level. You can have conversations with friends without having to scream to be heard. The bartenders are skilled and the bar itself has an impressive stock of brandys. As you would expect from a hotel of this caliber, there is 24-room service, gym and spa, and a business center. The front desk staff members are good-natured and fluent in a number of languages. I was also more than pleased with the fact the hotel did not present us with myriad hidden fees when we checked out, too. All prices quoted at the time of reservations appeared on the bill exactly and not a dollar more.

Really nice clean hotel, staff were all really helpful, stefanie the concierge really helpful and nice.
Breakfast was value for money. Hotel is next to a church, but the church bells stopped ringing at 7pm so there is no problems with getting to sleep.Good location with plenty of public transport near by, supermarket just around the corner.

The hotel is located close to the Alexanderplatz and the railway station. The rooms were quite spacious and the beds comfortable. Staff was friendly and the food was good and fresh. A a confernce place it was good but I think the atmosphere is a bit too business like for my taste when it comes to a private visit. The wifi was expensive! There are probably rooms with a better view than what I had.

I really don´t understand that this is a four star hotel!! The rooms are nice, but the staff not. Stayed there for four nights with group of 24. We asked in the reception if they had wi-fi. Yes the staff said, it costs OF COURSE!! there was very slow pc computers in the reception that guest could use. On the last night we found out there was a club, called Leonardo Club. If you signed in you will get free wifi, 10 % discount at the bar and a bottle of water in the fridge in room.Clearly to join this club was for FREE!! No staff told any of 24 people of the group that we could sign up to get free wifi.

a welcoming reception staff, helpful and efficient. very good breakfast, very clean and well taken care of room. good location, a 15 minute walk to Alexanderplatz, bus no. 200 and tram M4 are just a few minutes walk.
the only upsetting thing was wi-fi, which was not free, even not in public areas of the hotel, but eventually there was a solution for this.

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the inner part of the hotel are quieter. prior to booking ask if bath tub and sink...

The hotel froze 420 euro in my account for the duration of the stay as a deposit. When I went to pay the bill at the end I told them that this is the money I had put aside, so once they release the money I can pay the bill. This was not possible because it was a bank holiday and the banks were not working. I had to ask a friend of mine for a loan to pay the bill. It was very embarrassing. Also I was told when I checked in that no money was being taken from my account the card details were just needed as a deposit against damages etc. Why not just ask customers for the money up front instead of freezing money for days in there account? I really think this practice of having the power to freeze this amount of money should be illegal. I cant understand why a company would conduct its transactions like this.

In general the hotel was not 4 star standard and was not in a great location. Also Hackescher Markt is not a restaurant recommendation, its a location where there are a couple of mediocre restaurants. Somebody should tell that to the staff at reception.
