This hotel is close to subway easy to get to via rail or air--friendly helpful staff. room was simple but fresh and pleasant. very clean and we found the beds very comfortable. talk to staff about travel passes they can really help. free walking tour picks you up Theo our guide was excellent-should of done it on our first day. rerasonable breakfast menu/we didnt have buffet. also good bakeries for coffee and breakfast on 3 sides/good pizza across the road and small biomarket down the street. We would recommend this to anyone travelling to Berlin.

Room Tip: if you are a light sleeper as for an inside room/weekend traffic pretty loud.

At the time of booking this hotel was rated #1 on Trip Advisor for Berlin, and although I'm usually a bit sceptical I completely agree with all the positive reviews this hotel has.

The location is great; based in the Mitte area of the city where there are plenty of lovely cafes, bars and restaurants, and generally a great atmosphere. From the hotel we comfortably walked to Museum Island, the Berlin Wall Memorial, the TV Tower and a few other tourist spots, however there is a U Bahn station directly underneath the hotel and a large train station just at the bottom of the street - both of which allow you to travel anywhere in the city with ease.

Our room was better than we imagined and we already had high expectations given the overall great reviews. It felt more like a studio apartment minus the kitchen, being very long and spacious with almost a separate sleeping and living area - topped off with a very large sized bathroom. The room had everything we needed and more, from the necessities of the comfy bed and hairdryer to the luxury of a decent TV and iPod docking station.

The hotel itself was brilliantly looked after inside and out, it was very modern and clean but had quirky elements to it also. We had drinks in the Fabisch bar area which was lovely, and were pleasantly surprised by the live music. The service was second to none; all the staff spoke perfect English, and were extremely helpful in offering recommendations for activities or a way to get back to the airport upon checkout, as well as just being genuinely friendly at every opportunity.

I'd recommend this hotel to anyone whether you're a couple, friends or even a family, and considering that the price is very reasonable for a great Berlin location, I didn't hesitate in giving this place a perfect rating!

Great hotel, great staff could not fault it really. We stayed here for a birthday/anniversary, we had a great time. The room was very clean and the facilities perfect. The hotel is on a busy crossing but this added to the experience. The staff were very helpful and always on hand with advice, I would recommend this hotel completely. In the hotel, they have an amazing bar with live music on Friday and Sunday nights. Please try and eat at Hashi (just down the road 200 metres), the food is Japanese and
well priced. For the people who want to watch sports and maybe have a cigarette inside, the Sports Bar down the road caters for this as well. All in all a great stay. We stayed on the 4th floor on the weekend of 21st March 2014.

We traveled to Berlin in March 2014 and spend 5 nights at The Circus Hotel. We were very comfortable here. It was easy to get here from the airport using public transportation, even for directionally challenged people, by using the website video. We had not slept the night before, and even though we arrived at 11 and check in is 2 pm, our room was ready and we were able to get in immediately- so great! The staff was always available to help when we needed directions, there is someone at the desk 24/7. We did not eat dinner in the restaurant, but had lots of coffees, teas, some drinks and breakfast every morning. It depends on what you want but we happen to like continental breakfasts, and we were very satisfied with the offerings. Great coffee, great bread, lots of cereal choices. Nice atmosphere, too, cosy and intimate with lots of little nooks to feel private in. I think the best part of the hotel is the website cwiki where you can get all kinds of tips for what to do in Berlin. Under "Restaurants" you can chose a type of cuisine, budget, or within 1 km. We went with the latter category as we wanted to walk each evening to dinner, and had some great meals so close by! You will discover your own favorites but ours were Monsieur Vuong (sp?) for inexpensive Vietnamese, Basil for homemade pastas with really creative sauces and White Trash for the fun factor. It is so easy to get to any part of Berlin from here, but there is also tons to see and do within walking distance. We spent a great evening at the Chameleon Theater, just down the street, seeing Flip. It was a wonderful show. If I returned to Berlin, I would happily stay at The Circus again.

Room Tip: We had room 209 which faced the street. We do not need total quiet to sleep so were fine with it an...

My husband and I stayed last week in a double room facing the courtyard. We requested the regular double room because the "economy double room" was smaller. Even so, the room we got was still tight on living space, but that's par for the typical European hotel. The king-bed (actually, two twins pushed together) was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we've ever slept in. The two down comforters were fluffy and an extra blanket was provided as requested in our original contact with the hotel. The bathroom was very spacious and tastefully equipped with a large shower. Water pressure and drainage in the bathroom worked well. Towels, however, could be replaced -- the ones in our room were showing signs of wear with frayed edges. We appreciated the hotel being eco-conscious and we chose to re-use our towels every day. There was a towel warmer which we used to hang-dry our underwear, a plus for travelers who travel light. Eco-shampoo, body lotion, and shower gel are included in the room cost; however, they are not already provided in the room. To get them, you have to go to the front desk; thus, be sure to pick up whatever you need when you check in.

The buffet breakfast, which costs 9 euros per person, was satisfactory and filling with offerings of several kinds of muesli, a variety of sliced meats and cheeses, breads, homemade jams, and fresh fruit. Yogurt is also available. Hard-boiled eggs are available if you arrive early. On our first day, we arrived near the end of the breakfast period and the basket was empty. Coffee, tea, and juice are included in the cost of breakfast. If you want scrambled or fried eggs, there is an additional charge.

Most of the staff, especially the front desk and housekeeping staff, were helpful and friendly. We are an older couple and the hotel seems more geared towards a youthful crowd.

The one negative experience is that, while we requested a room facing the courtyard, during the wee hours (3-4 am) in the morning, there were loud conversations emanating from a room with an open window which woke us up every night. When I peered out the window, I think it may have been one of the staff. The courtyard, while generally very quiet, allows sound to funnel upward.

The hotel is conveniently located by a transit point where one can catch trams, buses, and the underground. Alexanderplatz, a major landmark and transit hub, is two stops away. The Berlin Memorial Wall and Hackesche Market are short walks from the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants within a half-mile radius of the hotel.

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at The Circus. Location, the bed, the eco philosophy, and front desk staff were the strongest positive aspects of the hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room on an upper floor facing the courtyard if you are a light sleeper.

I guess it depends what you are looking for. This is not a 5 star glamour hotel but we were touring Berlin and wanted something not overly priced with some comfort and atmosphere. After all we were pretty much only sleeping there. What a find. The rooms are on the small side but bigger than Paris equivalent. The bathroom was great. The breakfast buffer for 9 euros kept us going most of the day. The people on the desk are lovely, friendly and very helpful. The location is amazing right near the subway and a few minutes walk to Alexander platz. Love it we did.

Some previous reviewers have expressed surprise at the Circus being regularly voted as one of Berlin's top hotels, complaining that it isn't 5 star quality. However, I think they are missing the point. The Circus doesn't pretend to be a luxury hotel. Instead it offers great friendly service, is spotlessly clean, and has a funky individualistic room design. I thought it was excellent from the moment I sent an e-mail asking a question prior to booking it. E-mail correspondence was courteous and prompt and nothing was too much trouble. On the basis of other reviews we booked a junior suite which I would recommend as some of the other rooms did look a bit small. We had a spacious shower room and a balcony. The suite was facing inward so we heard no road noise at all. One slight niggle was the extremely sharp metal bed corners which I managed to catch my leg on, but the bed itself was extremely comfortable. The buffet breakfast prides itself on being organic and they don't put too much out in order to be sustainable and avoid waste. I think they take this a bit too far as each day they had run out of the freshly cut fruit when we were in there. That said, I enjoyed the breakfasts. The bar/ cafe area as comfortable and laid back. I was only sorry we weren't staying on a Friday night when they have live music. The hotel has it's own magazine and offer an extensive range of services for customers. I would highly recommend this hotel which also has a U-Bahn station right on the doorstep and is on a great tram line making it easy to get around. There were lots of restaurants in easy walking distance.
