“Wonderful hotel SPOILED by staff”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

I recently stayed at this Adina hotel in Berlin with my sister and boyfriend on our travels through Europe and would have loved to have given it a higher rating. Unfortunately, certain members of the reception team spoiled my entire experience.

On a positive note, we found the location and hotel facilities to be very convenient and of a high standard. It was centrally located in Mitte (although quite dead at night) and well serviced by public transport. We used they local supermarket, which is similar to Aldi so make sure you have a bag for any purchases! The pool and sauna facilities were excellent although the light switch to the sauna is around the corner and we accidentally pressed the alarm switch in the dark. The bar and restaurant were convenient although overpriced for Berlin. The rooms were clean and spacious but the sofa bed in our room was broken and sagged in the middle and was extremely uncomfortable for my sister who slept in it. Considering the price, you could have a proper bed and unlimited wifi in your room at a hostel or comparable hotel facility. Instead you pay a minimum of €3.50 in your room or have access to the wifi password in the lobby for an hour.

The female manager at the reception desk was polite and friendly along with a young dark haired man who seemed to be relatively new. One bald gentleman whose name I recorded, was cold and abrupt towards us throughout the entire stay with Adina, anytime that we had a question or concern. Another young blond gentleman, who I assume is the same person referred to in the review on here from three weeks earlier, also had a similar attitude. We ensured that we asked permission before accessing the hotel's facilities, particularly in arranging a late checkout and when leaving our luggage with the reception team and printing out travel documents due to a late flight, but were made to feel like an inconvenience and as if we were doing the wrong thing. When we returned to the hotel to collect our luggage and travel to the airport this bald gentleman and young blond gentleman were seen and overheard to be making fun of us and our luggage. Laughing, gesturing and giving sarcastic 'good byes' obviously assuming that we could not understand them. I found this extremely offensive particularly as I was standing right beside them at the desk and it really dampened my view of the hotel and short time in Berlin. I wish I had asked the staff what the problem was before I left.

We were really excited to stay at this hotel, especially as we were homesick Australians and appreciated the small Australian details! However, we felt wholly unwelcome by members of staff at this hotel.

The location of this hotel in Berlin is good. An 8 minute walk to the main train station which is a central transportation hub, 10 minute walk to the main memorial site for the Berlin wall, 15-20 minutes walk to the Reichstag and Brandenburg gate.
The apartments are well equipped with anything that a family would need and a supermarket is available just 5 minutes down the street.
Underground parking is available and is very convenient.
I'm not sure this apartment hotel is relevant for a business traveler, but for families it is ideal.

Berlin is a very vibrant city with lots to see and do, and stopping at the Adina hotel, Hauptbahnhof, gave us a great base to recharge each night.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Berlin Hauptbahnhof train station (the main train station in Berlin).

The area is nice and the hotel is situated across the road from the History museum. All areas of Berlin can be reached by bus, tube or train, and there are stops for all three nearby the hotel.

There are a couple of restaurants very near to the hotel and a very busy area full of bars only a 15 minute walk away.

Staff were very friendly and extremely attentive. Bar was lovely and the cocktails were great. Happy hour is 5pm - 7pm every night and great for a drink before heading out into town.

We booked an apartment room and it was a good size with a full kitchen and en-suite bathroom. The room was extremely clean and very quiet.

Would 100% stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking to visit Berlin.

Room Tip: Upgrade to apartment rooms - 100% worth it.

Very comfortable studio apartment with a great bed, large bathroom, desk, couch and chair as well as fridge, microwave and dishes. A small balcony overlooked an adjacent park. A light rail line is being constructed nearby but that did not bother me. The hotel breakfast was quite expensive, but I found food to store in the fridge and eat in my room. The staff was quite friendly and helpful to me.

location is not quite as central as the others but therefore much easier to travel from there by own car.

Just spent three days in Berlin where we stayed at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms are apartment style and have everything you could need for a short or long break. The bar is very cosy and reasonably priced and the adjoining restaurant serves lovely well cooked meals.
The hotel is about ten minutes from the hauptbanhof so handy for the airport and getting to and from all areas of the city. Walking is about 20/30 minutes to main area's, I would suggest a decent pair of shoes. There is a lot of building work going on around the hotel but that didn't affect us and to be fair there is building work going on through out the city. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a base to explore Berlin. Some of the reviews say this hotel is badly placed all I can say is do your research before you book if you want to stay right in the heart of the city then don't stay here, but if you are happy to jump on public transport or walk (which is good for you) then you won't go far wrong by booking this place. Not having free WIFI in the room didn't bother us as we were on a break to get away from things like that but I guess it is what people expect nowadays.

Room Tip: As there is a lot of building work around the hotel ask for a room at the back. We had room 416 whic...
