Chose this hotel for it's price and the availability of a triple room. It is in an excellent location, with boutiques and restaurants nearby and right next to the U-bahn and S-bahn stations. Despite this, we never heard a single train. This may have been because the hotel is so enormous! The weather was freezing but the hotel was warm and the staff (like all the people of Berlin) were incredibly helpful. The wifi connection was brilliant, too, and there were computers available for use in reception.
Although the room was simple, it was all you needed and was exceptionally clean. The beds and pillows were amazingly comfy! My only drawbacks were the lack of storage space - only a wardrobe so we had to keep all of our clothes in our suitcases, and the shower was annoying as you had to continuosly turn it back on as it was a push-button, which made washing your hair a nightmare! This is however to keep the wastage of water to a minimum and reduce the carbon footprint, so I dealt with it!
The only other problem was that we had a group staying opposite us who made SO much noise one night we couldn't sleep. The walls are quite thin and though usually it's not a problem, you will hear people in high heels clopping down the corridor at 4am when they return home.
The swimming pool and sauna were also lovely; the swimming pool was freezing but the sauna was welcome after a freezing day in the centre!
We wandered out every night to a different cafe and bar, there is so much in the area to do in the evening and during the day it is so easy and quick to get to the sites.

Great experience. Read the reviews both good and bad but I have to say I had no complaints at all. Very close to tube and 2 lines down the line there are lots of places to eat. Great indian restaurant Shanti.

Room Tip: We had room 216. It was great.

The price is certainly attractive here, for 15euro to have a twin room with an ensuite is a great deal. Like previous reviewers I thought that it definitely had more of budget hotel feel to the place. Added to that is that the room is really clean and simple. But definitely cheaply done, as the bed is not very comfortable. The bathroom is fairly new and there is free wifi. Breakfast is an additional cost but it had such a large selection that it was worth it some days.

Would stay here again considering what you get for the price. And the staff here are really friendly and helpful. They helped us to book some ice hockey tickets which was great!! Definitely recommend everyone to go to the ice hockey in Berlin.

Overall, I really liked this place but some small details and the location weren't the best. To access the hostel you need to walk either down at the metro or through an underpass a little further down. Given the location of the hostel there were some shady people hanging around here, especially at night. The rooms had a few small details that could have been fixed. The light for the room was in the entrance hall and so the area with the beds was dark. And the lamps that were supposed to be fixed to the wall were loose and dangling down.

The Wifi here was free, but it did not work in the room. In the lobby the connection was a bit haphazard and did not work everyday. From a room on the ground floor, could hear everyone that was walking past outside.

Excellent stay! Staff very helpful and is near to tube and tram station.
I stayed in a private room, which is better than a 3 star hotel, very clean and spacious.

I have NOTHING but good things to say about this hostel. It is FANTASTIC!

Firstly the location (as that is always my main priority when travelling): I found it difficult to decide on an area to stay in in Berlin as the city is so spread out. With most European cities I just look for the historical centre or that sort of thing. Berlin, however is not as easy to gauge. It is all very spread out and it is hard to ascertain where exactly the city centre lies. So I had to rely on gut instinct and traveller reviews. The reviews of this area said it was vibrant and had nice bars and restaurants so I thought it was a safe bet. And indeed it was!! When we got off the train we felt like we had travelled a fair way out of town, and were not sure if the area was the safest, but by the end of the first day our worries were completely put to rest. Firstly it is not very far out at all - Everything is easily accessible by train - only a few stops to any of the other areas of interest. However, I always prefer to experience a city on foot than in trains and buses so we ended up walking around most of the time we were there. Its only about a 35 minute walk to alexanderplatz - and the first 1.3km of that walk is along what they call the East Side gallery - just a stones through from the hostel, on the way into town, is the largest remaining piece of the Berlin wall, decorated in commissioned graffiti artwork! It is really impressive, and there is a little park behind it (there is artwork on both sides of the wall) on the river where it is very nice to just sit and chill for a bit. So whether on foot or by train everything in Berlin seems to be very accessible from this area. The area at night is great, you can stroll across the bridge to a wide selection of bars and restaurants, all fairly reasonably priced. So in short, this area is great, and I would highly recommend it.

Now to the hostel itself! Well I would hardly call it a hostel! It is pure luxury compared to some hostels I have stayed in. The building looks to be an old monastery converted or something like that. Lovely stone walls - and lots and interesting artwork dotted around the place. The room was basic enough, but clean and very big and airy. It had a large fridge, a microwave, and small hotplate, which more than made up for the fact that the hostel didn't have a communal kitchen/ cooking area. There was also a reasonably priced restaurant when you could get breakfast, lunch and dinner - but with so many nice eateries in the area this was barely necessary! There is also a lovely courtyard area at the centre of the building where they have deck chairs and picnic tables where you can relax and watch the bunny rabbits go about their daily business (yes, the hostel has its own pet bunny rabbits!)

To top this all off the hostel even has an indoor swimming pool!! Now it isn't heated but I'd imagine on a hot day it is very refreshing! The weather was fairly overcast when we were there, but even so I found the pool a refreshing jolt to the system! I enjoyed a lovely swim, followed by a quick warm up in the sauna (yes they have a sauna too!!)

And all this for less than 140 euro altogether for three nights in a double room! I think I have made my case!! you would be foolish not to stay in this hostel :)
