Ok, this is going to be a bit of a mixed bag because at face value this is actually a pretty awesome hotel/hostel when things are going right. I'll try not to bemoan the bad points too much because the staff were generally pretty good and were very understanding when my friend had reached her tipping point and eventually broke down at reception. We stayed in a twin room, we're budget travelers who wanted cheap facilities but not to live in total squalor for the week.

Pros:
- fantastic area, Friedrichshain has got it going on! A stone's throw away from the East Side Gallery, Warshauer Strasse itself has some great arty fun stuff going on too. Right next to a tram which is about 15 mins to Prenzlauer Berg, and the S-Bahn and U-Bahn barely takes 15 mins to get to the centre. Lidl right next door, very good.
- massive rooms with nice bathrooms, comfy beds, old style Berlin building with high ceilings
- good facilities downstairs, DIY laundry, restaurant, bar, vending machines (inc. beers), 24 hour reception
- knowledgeable staff, good provision of maps and local info
- secure luggage room

Cons:
- Wifi absolutely useless. So much so we ended up moving rooms twice (after already having moved once before that due to our air-con not working on our first night and having dudes in our room trying to fix it at 11.30pm. This was also after having drag our laptop/phones/tablet around to various rooms to check where they would work until settling on our room of choice

- it's massive, which shouldn't be too much of an issue if you don't have to change rooms, but I'm telling you, after packing and unpacking 3 times, hoofing our heavy luggage around ourselves through the Crystal Maze we were starting to get serious sense of humour failure. No phones in room, so any issues again it's through the labyrinth, up and down the lift....

- staff were generally quite sympathetic to our issues but because there's so many of them, we found ourselves explaining our situation to a different person every time. Not only a bit exacerbating, but also just made us feel like they didn't quite understand the magnitude of our annoyance because it was the first they'd heard of it (not their fault, but just...gah!!!)

Despite all this I would stay again because it's a very cool place and apart from the wifi stuff I enjoyed my stay.

Antonio was a bit of a diamond putting up with our moaning and got us a refund for our first night. There was also another very helpful dude who I think was from Brazil...his name began with C, but he was a total legend and helped melt away our frustrations.

Think we were just unlucky, but as I said, would stay again.

Room Tip: Stay on the second floor if possible - the wifi works better and if you're on 3rd or 4th it'...

Stayed here for a weekend in Berlin. Perfect for younger travelers who want slightly more privacy than a basic hostel but don't feel like paying for an expensive hotel. Sauna and pool were really great. Didn't drink or use the restaurant but did take a look around and seemed to have a lively atmosphere. Rooms were pretty basic but spacious with modern bathrooms. Really fun hotel with a great vibe but probably wouldn't recommend for couples or families.

Room Tip: Book the hotel side. Price wasn't much higher and the privacy was definitely worth it

After getting very stressed out trying to book a hotel in Berlin, purely because there is so much choice we finally settled on the Plus Berlin hotel near the East Side Gallery. And we were over the moon with our decision. As it turns out, once we arrived the hostel is part of the same group of accomodation as Camping Jolly in Venice, and we could instantly tell.
The hotel / hostel accomodates for any kind of traveller, their communal / bar areas are well thought out, staff were so so helpful with all our million and one questions. and our room was brilliant! For a hostel / hotel even though we had a private room we expected basic, but we received a spacious modern room (triple) with 3 single beds (we were expecting bunk) and a great bathroom that was again spacious with a powerful shower.
the location was perfect, right by the east side gallery and also a tube station, and train station just a 2 minute walk away.
In the evening a 10-15 minute walk took us to the Friedstain district which was perfect for restaurants and bars. Although if you are tired from sight seeing the Opera bar at the hotel is a great place, full of atmosphere, they were a little short staffed on the night we went but they coped well.
The hotel stated that the rooms would be cleaned daily and towels changed on request but we received fresh towels on a daily basis too.
We had a room at the front of the hotel, i could sleep through anything so it was fine for me, but on the friday my roomie could hear people outside from the bar on the corner. Nothing too crazy but if you are a light sleeper i would probably recommend a room on the otherside of the hotel.?
Berlin is a great place, and we will definitely be back as 4 days wasn't long enough to cover everything, and we'll definitely be choosing the PLUS hotel Berlin to stay in again too.

Very good location, clise to S & U station and also the O2 World Stadium. The hotel is big and has a nice design, rooms are quite big. Staff veru friendly. The breakfast is average and not included, you're better off having brunch in a cafe somewhere.
The wifi is not working all the time, but reception staff will help with that if you ask them.

Amazing hostel with brilliant service. Has a sauna, swimming pool and lots of other facilities. It's great value for money also. The staff members I dealt with was also brilliant very personable. They went out of their way to help customers with no hidden charges. Want something printed? No problem. Free Internet also. I highly recommend the Alternative Berlin pub crawl which goes every evening also. Having lived in Berlin and done them all this is the best by far. I've recommended this hostel to all my friends and would definitely stay here again.
