“Perfect location”
Reviewed 22 November 2012

We have just returned from spending 5 nights at the Adina, Hackescher Markt which has to be in one of the best locations in Berlin. A stone's throw from the the Berliner Dom and a twently minute stroll along the Unter den Linden to the Brandenburgh Gate, this modern hotel offers spacious accomodation with kitchen facilities. Given the proximity of restaurants at every price point, the self catering facilities are hardly necessary but, for those wishing to self cater, the facilities are more than adequate.

The only disappoinment was, once again as we have experienced elsewhere on the continent this year, single duvets on a super fing size bed. It just doesn't work and leads to a less than perfect night's sleep.

The staff are friendly and helpful and the Big Buck cocktails are not to be missed in the bar.

Breakfast is ample but pricey. If you're intending to partake, buy the voucher in advance.

If you're flying into Tegal, there's a good and frequent bus service (TXL) that stops within 200 metres of the hotel on Karl Liebknecht Str by Marienkirche. Cross the road and walk down Rosenstrasse and you'll see the hotel sign in front of you on the left. For the less adventurous, a taxi will cost you €25 and take just as long as the bus at €2.40.

Dear WingcoNick, many thanks for the time taken to write that nice comment. I am sorry that you
Did not had such a comfortable night due to the single duvets, but that´s how we do it over here. Besides that it looks that you enjoyed your stay with us and especially loved the cocktails. I am sure our next guests will take in consideration all your tips. Looking forward to welcome you again. Kind regards. Annette Jost

This is a brand new property right next to the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station. The location is very convenient to transit, also being close to Alexander Platz and Museum Island, and is walkable to Unter den Linden and Prenzlauerberg. We had a one bedroom unit, which comes with an in-unit washer and dryer, which was really great as you can pack less clothes. You can either buy washer tablets for 1EUR from the hotel, or just stock up at a nearby market (there are several, including a bio store a block away, and a Kaiser and Rossman a few blocks further). Dishwasher tabs are given free. The in-room wifi was not included in our rate, and you can buy it for periods of time, or all day for 14.50 EUR. It was fairly fast in our room. Wifi is free in the lobby, and there are plenty of chairs and couches to use if you choose that. There is a bar/restaurant next to the lobby, and they have a daily happy hour, but the food is mostly bar chow and burgers. They do offer an elaborate breakfast buffet for about 18 EUR I think, but we just bought groceries in and made our own. The kitchen also has a slot toaster BTW. There are many nice and inexpensive restaurants within a few minutes walk, including a good Mexican place across the street, and a good Thai place around the block. Or you can just eat in with your equipped kitchenette.

The one bedroom units are very nice, though overly-brightly lit by fluorescent bulb lamps. The windows are very soundproofed, so don't be afraid to ask for a room facing the street and nearby train station. We had a nice view of the city and tracks, and could barely hear the trains. The rooms on the other side of the hall face an inner courtyard and must be rather dark. The one bedrooms have two flat screen TVs with cable and pay movies. The bed was firm and comfortable, with that odd German thing of giving two half comforters instead of one large one. Maybe Germany is full of bed sheet thieves? Lol. The heating was great and was separate for the living room and bedroom. The bathroom had a great heated towel rack, which was also great for drying clothes you can't put in the dryer, like wool items. There was also a pool, spa and gym in the basement that lots of people took advantage of, so pack swim trunks and flip-flops!

The staff were all very nice and helpful, and spoke excellent English if, like us, your German is rudimentary.

Overall, a great apartment in a prime location at a great price. We will be back.

Located within walking distance to the main attractions of the city, like the TV Tower, the museum island, the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlindome and many others.
Spotless rooms, comfy beds and a helpful staff made my stay a remarkable experience.

4 day break in Berlin. Great location, walking distance to the museum district. Some great local restaurants and relatively easy access to the Kaiser supermarket.

Flew into Schoenefeld via Easyjet for a cheap few days away. Decided to get the S Bahn from the airport which was incredibly easy, just a short walk away. Travel to the hotel required getting an 'ABC' ticket priced only at 3.10 euros as of Nov 2012. Get off at the Hackescher Markt on the S5 Spandau line from OstKreuz to access the hotel. Lines to the Ostkreuz run every 30 minutes or so but the spandau line is roughly every 5-10 minutes and very fast. The hotel is only 2-3 minutes walk from the station.

What a find! Quickly settled in as the staff spoke perfect English. The studio apartment was more than enough for us! Double bed, heavy night curtains and excellent decor. Loads of wardrobe space and facilities such as toaster, kettle, cutlery and cups, large fridge, dishwasher with tablets, hairdryer, electronic safe and microwave all included! The TV showed basic british freeview channels for free such as BBC1, channel 4, E4, Film 4, BBC three and ITV2 so we didn't even miss our favourite shows from home.

The bathroom was stunning with a wet room shower, toilet, basin and large towels.

Deciding to eat out we didn't try the food or breakfast, we were easily able to make superb breakfasts ourselves by buying from the supermarkets. However we did try the cocktails in the bar which were outstanding! Happy hour meant that 5 euros covered any cocktail on the menu.
Really good start to any night out.

Just down the road is the Irish pub, more german than irish however serving good german beer, Kilkenny and Guiness for those missing home. Good value, good live music most nights and excellent service. If you can wrestle a seat from the local germans you'll be lucky but won't be dissappointed.

As for this hotel, well already thinking about the christmas markets and I know I'll be looking for another stay here whilst celebrating!

Dear Tess_n_Matt, what an amazing review on your stay with us. Starting with the description how to get to us, full review of the apartment facilities and the british TV channels. I am happy to read that you hardly did not miss home, when I see these comments. So nice that you tried our cocktails in the Alto bar, which is always a good start for the night out or for the last nightcap. Please make sure you do your next reservation pretty soon, as the Advent shopping weekends are always busy. Looking forward to welcome you again. Kind regards Annette Jost

My 13 year old son & I spent 9 nights at the Adina Apt Hotel Berlin Hackescher Markt. We had a 1 BR suite -- which gave us a lot of space & it felt like a mini-home for us. The beds were firm & comfortable, the kitchen, while tiny, was sufficient enough for us to eat breakfast & cook a few meals (nothing fancy). The bath was spacious, with seemingly unlimited hot water & good water pressure in the shower. You are centrally located in the heart of Berlin, but a few streets behind bustling Alex Platz (about 10 min away), so it is much quieter. You are next to the S-Bahn, which is convenient, but can be a tad noisy (honestly, I only noticed the noise in the morning when we were eating breakfast). There is a Kaiser supermarket about 5 min. away ... there are also "American comforts" if you need them, such as Starbucks & McDonalds about 5 min. away.

Many people complain about the speed of internet & price (only free in the lobby/bar). However, the front desk was very generous about giving us the lobby 1-hr passes, and we would take them up to the room & use them. I actually liked not having 24/7 internet on a vacation, as you actually sightsee & enjoy your trip, rather than waste time on facebook or dealing with emails.

This was a great find & really cheap in comparison. Last time I was in Berlin (Dec 2010), we stayed at the Westin Grand, which is an amazing luxury hotel. The Adina was better & at a 1/3 of the cost.

Room Tip: The 1 BR suite upgrade from a studio for about $20/night was well worth it!

Dear Camel92119, what a great compliment in giving us a higher ranking than the Westin. From your review it really sounds that you and your son felt very comfortable at our hotel and had the time to use all the facilities the hotel offers. I hope you visit our capital city sooner next time and choose us again as your starting location. Kind regards Annette Jost

I stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfriend and we can highly recommend this hotel. The room was great, really spacious and clean with excellent facilities including dishwasher, TV and free wifi in the lounge/lobby. The staff were also very helpful and the gym/spa area is great too. But the best aspect of the hotel for us was the location - it's just round the corner from the tram/underground station and minutes from lots of great restaurants and bars. It's also easy walking distance to Museum Island (the Pergamon and Neues museums are well worth a visit) and a bit of a longer walk or a train ride away is the Brandenburg Gate (great to see this at night, very pretty all lit up) and Checkpoint Charlie. Great value for money stay, we'd definitely like to stay again soon.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location was fantastic - walking distance to many of Berlin's sites and Hackescher Markt right up the street with plenty of restaurants and shops.
We found the room to be spacious, clean and modern. There were many families staying in the hotel and I assume the flexibility of having a kitchenette would be attractive. We found the bed to be a little hard and a bit uncomfortable but that was our only complaint.
All in all, this is a nice, standard hotel. It's not quite luxurious but it was perfectly good for a weekend to explore Berlin.
(Note: We ate the breakfast in the hotel one morning when in a rush but we didn't feel it was worth the price. There is a bakery up the street and a bagel shop and a coffee shop around the corner which were great.)

Room Tip: We had a courtyard facing room and it was quite quiet.

Dear JJReid1030, many thanks for taking your time to write your comments on our hotel. Yes you are right for families the space in the apartments and its facilities is a big advantage. I am sorry that for you the matrices’ were too hard, so far we just got compliments on them and some guests even asked for the supplier. But as everybody has a different need and taste, same with the breakfast, I am very sorry that we could not please you in these matters. It would be great if you might give us another try.
