“A hotel room you could almost imagine living in (+ great location!)”
Reviewed 20 April 2013

My husband and I stayed here for a romantic weekend in March, and the hotel was a great success. Of course the location was a big part of that, and the service was very friendly, but what really sets this hotel apart from me was the quality of the room. Most hotel rooms (even the posh ones I've stayed in) are just not very practical - they either have no furniture beyond a bed or the furniture is crammed in so tightly that you can barely navigate between it. The Adina basically lives up to its billing of 'Apartmenthotel' with a nicely designed, practical, comfortable little studio apartment somehow folded into an actual hotel room! It was great, I could actually even imagine a long stay here.
We didn't try the breakfast (we were too late), but there is an excellent bakery at the corner of the building (turn left out of the main entrance) which provides wonderful sandwiches & cappucinos all day.
Why only four stars not five? No biggies, just a couple of minor points that fell short of excellent. The hotel's cocktail bar has nice quiet seating, but the cocktails were somewhat disappointing. (Truly excellent cocktails are just 200 meters away at Riva bar!) The gym is one of these diminutive hotel gyms with 4 machines (why is it only ever 1 crosstrainer??), and you have to rent your coffeemaker if you want one in your room. Not that I mind too much, I just thought you should get more than 4 Nespresso pods per day for 12 euros/day (for two people).
However, it was great value and a wonderful stay and we'll definitely come again.

Dear Jo H, what a nice compliment. It really sounds like that you enjoyed the space we over in our apartments. Your point of view regarding the cocktails and the equipment is always depending what you are used too. We tried to find a good mixture of gym equipment for the size of the area. So far people liked it. And regarding the coffee machines, we really offer quiet a range of facilities here. From Instant coffee for free as well as coffee pluncher for free up to a senseo coffee machine with pads or a nespresso with capsules at charge. They all have different quality of course and there fore different charges. But it sounds that all in all you enjoyed your stay and we will see you again. Kind regards Annette Jost

We spent 4 nights here over Easter. We really can't find any fault. We were impressed with the staff, the room was fabulous, the location was perfect and we were able to check in earlier than expected, which is always a nice touch.

The bathroom is huge, the water pressure in the shower strong, the water hot, and our 17 month old daughter could have learned to swim in the bath it was so big! Having a massive washing machine and dryer was just wonderful having already traveled before arriving in Berlin, it was just a real bonus to be able to continue our holiday with suitcases full of clean clothes.
The bed was super comfortable and they had set up a bed for our daughter, which we didn't need (as she had her own portacot) but it was so thoughtful that they had it all ready the day we arrived. The wardrobe was really spacious.
The TV had a wide range of stations, English, French, German and Arabic (I think?) and yes, we had to pay for WiFi access to our iPad, but really, it was so convenient, super fast and not that expensive. It's a hop on/hop off service, so my advice would be don't fall asleep with your wifi on overnight (as I did!) We paid for 24 hrs access over 4 days, and had I not fallen asleep with it on we would not have needed to buy any additional time. It was much faster than at other hotels where we've been given free wifi access, so I don't really have a problem with having to pay for that luxury. There is free wifi in the reception area where there are many comfortable sofas.

The balcony was a great size, we actually kept our stroller out there and we had an excellent view of The Fernsehturm (TV Tower) from our lounge/balcony. The full sized fridge was really practical for us, being a family, and we immediately felt very comfortable in the room.
We had to leave iPads and iPhones charging whilst we were out seeing Berlin and one day I accidentally left my handbag, with passports, wallet (with Euros) out on display, my jewelry and our newly purchased Sony HD camcorder all out of the safe (I thought we weren't having the room made up that day, but my husband put the sign on the door after I'd left, without warning me) and was absolutely relieved (but also astonished) to return to a beautifully made room and not a valuable missing. I mean, it would have been our own fault had things been taken, it was a very foolish thing to do and in other hotels I've had less valuable things taken by the maids.
The staff were not only honest but incredibly obliging, another day we returned a little early, when they were cleaning and the maids reassured us that they'd come back when it was more convenient. We did what we needed to do, then left again and on our return our room was spotless. At other hotels we've been asked to come back later while they finish!

When we braved the icy weather to venture OUT of the room we were close to everything Berlin had to offer and yet it wasn't an area that felt overcrowded with tourists. Everything seemed to be a short walk away, and there was a great bakery around the corner where we had a morning coffee and pastry. There's a supermarket just around the corner and a range of take away food options only minutes walk away.

We'd highly recommend this hotel and thank the staff for their hospitality throughout our stay. We left with a very positive opinion of Berlin and can't wait to return.

Dear Mezzy1979, what an amazing review. It makes me really proud of my team, how thoughtful they prepared your room and made sure you feel comfortable. Especially for families with kids our one-bedroom apartments with washing machine and dryer and the fully equipped kitchen are very useful. I appreciate your comment regarding the wifi, as it is one thing to provide free wifi at a very slow speed, or provide proper wifi, which also is cost sensitive for us. And if you just check your emails a 24 hrs voucher can last a couple of days. I passed on your positive experience with housekeeping to the cleaner and they were very proud. They have a tough job and are mostly not noticed. So thanks again for pointing out, their professional work. Looking forward to your next visit. Kind regards Annette Jost

My wife and I spent 4 wonderful days in Berlin at the Adina in Hackescher Markt. We decided based on trip advisor and could not be happier. The hotel is in a great location which was one of our main selection criteria. We arrived to the main train station and it took us 10 mins by taxi to get to the hotel (ask to be taken to Hackescher Markt station and you should be fine as he hotel is right behind it). From the hotel you can easily walk to the main sites in Mitte including the museum island, the cathedral and the Brandenburg Gate. I like running and one morning went all the way to the Victory monument and back, highly recommend it as the views are amazing. For everything else the subway station is around the corner and taxis are easy to get through the reception desk (we were a group of 4 people and found taxis a relatively cheap way to move around). Rooms were clean and spacious (we needed to do laundry so we paid an additional EUR 30 to be upgraded and get a washer and drier in our room). We did not use it but there was a fully equipped kitchen with pans, silverware and plates. The gym and swimming pool were quite nice as well and the restaurant in the premises was a pleasant surprise. It is not a 5 star hotel by any means in terms of service or luxury but quite appropriate overall, especially considering what you are paying. Best value for money in all our travels so far.

Dear fidelio2011, what a nice comment. So good to hear, that you took the chance to run all the way in the morning to the victory monument. I am also glad, that you could proof for you self what all the other tripadvisor guests commented, is the truth. And even each guests experience for his self, which is the most important value. Many thanks for the compliment of the very positive comparison to a 5-star hotel. We really appreciate that recognition. Looking forward to your next stay. Kind regards Annette Jost

We stayed here for a long romantic weekend last week. We arrived late on friday after a long day travelling. On arrival we received a warm welcome from reception. We were told that we had a room on the 7th floor with an impressive view. We asked if there were any decent bars around and received the reply "we're surrounded!" - brilliant!

The location is truely excellent. The area has a busy yet chilled vibe. During the day beers can be had on deckchairs overlooking the spree and by night the place comes alive. Pick up some bikes on every corner and travel round like the locals or use the tram or train station right next the hotel.

About that view, the main strip to the left and the tv tower overlooking the room breathtakingly close. The room had everything for someone wanting true self catering, was spacious, modern, clean and cosy.

The hotel has a nice quiet bar; cocktails are €5 between 530-730. Breakfast was included with our stay and was satisfying and diverse. Traditional german items with english, american and continental options. Plenty of tea, coffee and juices and flexible service times.

The spa is small but I personally enjoy a nice sauna/jucuzzi before heading out for dinner and found.

Overall I really rate this place and it represents great value and luxury. Would definitely stay again if in Berlin.

Great Location. Comfortable Rooms. We Travelled To Berlin For The ITB Travel Show. The Location Was A Bit Of A Distance To The Show, But A Perfect Location To Stay. Alexander Platz was Only A Few Minutes Walk. Lots To See And Eat In This Area.

The Apartment was fitted out Well, The Bed Very comfortable. Always Good To Feel at Home With The Australian Themed decor.

The Internet Was Free In The Foyer But At A Cost In The Rooms, Luckly Had A Pre Paid Internet Connection.

We really enjoyed our extended weekend at Adina. We were very pleasantly surprised at the comfort level for this moderately priced hotel. We had a large double room with a bath and a fully equipped kitchenette, everything top modern and very clean.
The breakfast buffet (EUR15) was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. The staff is very friendly.
My only complaint is that the wifi is not free in the room, only in the reception, and it requires a cumbersome login-procedure every time you use it.
The location is really perfect with 100 m to the U-bahn and the lovely Hackesher markt district, we walked to most of our destinations.
We will definitely return to Adina!

Dear Henrik A, what a nice review and a great compliment on our breakfast buffet and the full equipped apartment. The single logins are necessary due to german law and as we provide the wifi for free in the public areas, this should be fine. We really look forward to welcome you soon again. This hotel is in a great location to explore Berlin... This was my second time staying at this hotel. Had a one-bedroom the first time and a two-bedroom this time. It feels like a home away from home in the heart of the city. Rooms are a good size, have a balcony, and are nicely decorated. There are blocks and blocks of good shopping and interesting museums nearby. So many good restaurants within walking distance such as Lemke, Oliva, and Thai Inside. Liked having a bakery just outside the hotel entrance to pick up fresh items to have breakfast in the room. There is a good grocery store (Edeka) close by across from the Starbucks. Check out the Döner in the lobby entrance of the grocery store. Ate lunch there several times it was so good. And it was really convenient having a washer & dryer in the room. Will probably stay here again the next time I am in Berlin.
