This was a lovely spot to spend two days in Berlin. It is close to the old town attractions, as well as nice restaurants with outdoor seating. The room had plenty of space even with the fold out bed for our son. The bathroom was modern, clean and nice. It even had a large, clean tub, which was perfect for soaking after a long day of sight seeing. The desk staff was friendly and accommodating. Even though WIFI in the room was not free, the staff was generous with limited-time codes. They have a cute little outdoor courtyard and the hotel featured nightly specials such as Hamburger Friday and Thursday night BBQ.

Dear Jana N, many thanks for your lovely feedback. I am happy to read how much you appreciated our location as well as the equipment of the apartment. Good to read that you were able to join our weekly BBQ in the courtyard. Hopefully you will find the time to return some day to us. Kind regards Annette Jost

It was a pleasant surprise to find ourselves in this stylish hotel, minutes walk from the centre of Berlin, with such a large apartment to use. As a family travelling around Europe we were really pleased to find a washer/dryer in the room as this saved us money on laundry services. The staff were all very polite and helpful. Breakfast was great, if a little hectic due to the busy nature of the small restaurant it is served in.

The only reason I haven't given it 5* is that as a very light sleeper I found that the presence of the "night bus" stops on the street outside (a bus service that only runs from 11pm to 7pm and seems to be mainly used by late night revelers) meant I had a broken sleep most nights. My family slept soundly so it was just me who was occasionally disturbed by late night laughing/voices. Nothing too raucous but unfortunately too noisy for me despite the good quality of the hotel soundproofing/windows. I have heard that you can ask for an off-road room to avoid this, would be nice if it was just offered as standard rather than having to be asked for.

Room Tip: For peace and quiet ask for a courtyard side room on as high a floor as possible.

Dear Dr_Marc_B, many thanks for your great review. It is nice to read how comfortable and suitable our apartments are equipped for travelling families. I am very sorry that for you as a very light sleeper the room to the front was not convenient. Whenever we have the availability we do offer as an alternative the courtyard rooms, but most of the 1-bedroom apartments are located to the front. This does not allow us to offer everyone an alternate room, when we are so fully booked. We would be happy to welcome you again one day, staying in a courtyard room. Kind regards Annette Jost

This was the perfect spot for us for our 5 days in Berlin. The apartment was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We loved having the kitchenette and being able to have our breakfast in the room before heading out for the day. It was very well supplied with utensils, dishes, etc. The only thing missing was the coffeepot. I was a bit surprised that they asked for 10 Euros/day to have a nespresso machine in the room. Seemed a bit overpriced to spend 10 Euros on 2 cups of coffee each day. They gave us a french press for no charge, but we had to buy our own coffee in the grocery store around the corner. I just thought that should have been included in the room. Most hotels in the US provide coffee and a coffeemaker in the room. Maybe that is just a "cultural difference" between US and German hotels. The only other negative I have to say is the need to pick up wifi user codes from the front desk which only last 1 hour. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We loved having the one bedroom apartment, which had a washer and dryer and a kitchenette.

Dear Robin B, many thanks for your great review. It seems you could make good use from the space and equipment of the apartment. Unfortunately we can not provide everything for free. You have already free instant coffee and tee in the room, which is refreshed each day. This is not a common German standard to provide free coffee. I hope we can welcome you soon again. Kind regards Annette Jost

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in a higher floor studio with kitchenette and balcony with a view to the tower.

Pros:

- friendly and efficient staff

- very comfortable living space with large bed, good linens and cleanliness

- excellent location near many eating options making it unnecessary to cough up for the rather expensive in-house breakfast, close to many attractions allowing one to walk or take a short ride on public transportation to the main sights

- kitchenette useful for catering in (supermarket and bakery nearby) or just using the utensils for the basics

- rather large hotel that still manages to maintain an intimate environment

- air-con worked well and consistently

- liked the location in what used to be East Berlin

- great value for a large city stay

- very good value, book it as it does fill up

Cons:

- had a staff member enter the room even though the do not disturb sign was on the door

- WIFI is charged in the room after a complimentary 30 min.

Overall, an excellent option especially if you can get a deal on one of the many booking sites. We used Expedia.
I hope you find this review helpful!

Dear travelglo, many thanks for your list of pro and cons. Happy to see that the list of pro is definitely longer than the cons. I am sorry that a staff member entered your room although you had the do not disturb sign out, I will discuss that with my team. Great to read that overall we could provide you as an excellent option and we hope to welcome you soon again. Kind regards Annette Jost

I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel - we stayed 4 nights in this incredible location (steps to the Hackescher Markt which we visited every night, Kaiser's supermarket around the corner, close to AlexanderPlatz and every train/metro combination thinkable). The rooms were cosy for 3, with a well-appointed kitchen (which we used a fair bit), loved the washer/dryer ensuite (advice: read the instructions in the hotel guide first if you can't read German and are unfamiliar with modern European appliances!) welcome A/C, quiet, wonderful breakfast, comfy beds, superb staff - we couldn't have asked for more. Wait - yes, we could have asked for more. We could ask them to change their WiFi policy so we would not have to bug the front desk staff for a new password every hour. That is super annoying. You can purchase hours, of course, but free band-width and protocol restricted WiFi should be available everywhere (you can even get it in the middle of a public park these days!). Bundle it into my room price, I don't care, just don't make me constantly harass the front desk each our for 3 slips (one for each of us). As we rely on iMessage to communicate with our daughter and each other when travelling abroad, having WiFi is critical to each family member staying in touch as we explored the city, sometimes separately, and touch base when we returned to our room. I'd like to give a 5, which this hotel deserves, but can only five a 4 because the WiFi scenario was so debilitating to me.
