I stayed here for nine nights in studio room 606.
It felt inviting as soon as I walked in, as the room was so spacious, clean and comfortable.
The quality of the furnishings, bed linen and appliances were first class.
Air conditioning worked really well and the room was very quiet.

Wi fi situation didn't bother me as I needed a break from my growing addiction to going online anyway.
Only spoke to reception staff on arrival and departure as I had no issues or requests and they were pleasant and efficient.
The hotel was very well placed for walking to many of Berlin's major sights.
For longer distances the tram and train stops were just at the end of the block also supermarket beside these stops.
The Adina was great value for money and I really enjoyed my stay.

Room Tip: They're all good but a front facing room would have a better view.

Dear Mary O, I am so pleased to read how much you enjoyed your stay with us. Especially that you noticed the atmosphere of commodity we try to create in the rooms as well as in the hotel. Great to see, that we still have guests who do not rate Wifi charges to the main rating item for a hotel quality and keep an eye open for other important things. Hopefully we can welcome you soon again. Kind regards Annette Jost

We stayed here for a few nights for a little weekend away in Berlin. The most impressive thing about the the hotel is the great variety of the breakfast. It's located about ten minutes walking away from a metro stop or the Bradenburg gate so not too far away from transport or the main areas in the town. Rooms were fantastic

Would have been nice if the pool was heated, but this is a minor detail.

I wish everyone could experience Room 805 in the wonderful Adina Hackescher Markt boutique hotel. 6 glorious days in this city, in this hotel, both with abundance to offer, was not long enough. If you're not into fine details, stop reading and just choose Adina. If little details are important to you read on and check out the photos where I honed in on most.

This hotel has some distinct advantages and the staff team works hard to make your experience in Berlin great. Notable mention here goes to reception staff: Albana (friendly, approachable); Alexandra (good sense of humour, efficient, service-oriented); and Ursula (upbeat, helpful). These 3 women, amongst those with whom we dealt, were a stand out for being friendly as well as helpful. The "warm up for a night out" package available on line was excellent value. In addition to breakfast, it included full day transportation passes and cocktails and snacks in their bar, Alto. The cocktails are otherwise pricey (except during happy hour, 5:30-7:30) but expertly mixed by bar tender, Tarek, who is a master at this. The cocktails are unique and exquisite. After booking, I was in email correspondence with General Manager, Annette Jost, who took pictures of room 805 and sent them by email to see if it met our needs and offered a discounted rate due to our longer stay. She also bought stamps for my postcards and these were presented on arrival. All above and beyond. I believe this proactive and client-focused manager is a significant reason behind Adina's high TA ranking.

Location: I worried that we should be more west, more in the inner circle of Berlin. But after 6 days of touring all over the city, it turns out that the Adina's location was nothing less than perfect. 8 mins walk to transportation hub, Alexanderplatz, 1 min to s-Bahn, bus stop outside the door, tourist 100 and 200 double-decker bus stop (which go to all the tourist sites as far west as the zoo), Berliner Dom and Museum Island all 5 mins walk away, Kamps cafe and bakery in the same block on the corner, Kaiser's grocery store 2 mins away at the back of the building, and clothing boutiques and restaurants 1-3 mins walk away. All in a convivial, attractive part of Mitte. I would not stay anywhere else in Berlin.

Hotel: well maintained building and a fine example of German engineering - I am sensitive to sound, and despite being adjacent to screechy s-Bahn tracks, once windows were closed, not a screech could be heard. It was so quiet, you would not have thought the trains were that close had you not seen them. Rooms were also better insulated from corridor and adjoining room noise than other hotels I have stayed in. Attractive wellness area, with sauna and small exercise room with reasonable equipment and free weights. Appealing breakfast area, bar, lobby, and reception areas. Environmentally sensitive features throughout, eg, hallway lights that illuminate when you enter the hallway and are off otherwise.

Breakfast: get a package that includes breakfast if you can. A buffet with good variety and quality, including a choice of eggs, latte and cappuccino on request, fresh fruit salad and juice, smoked salmon, and pancakes. Pricey and not recommended if purchased separately, however, so buy with a package that makes sense to you. Hours are very guest-friendly: 6:30-10:30 am weekdays and 7:30-11:30 am weekends. I must also mention the breakfast staff - a hardworking, pleasant, and helpful group of people who are quick to clear tables, offer eggs and get you coffee.

Room: 805 is one of their "premier" rooms, a spacious one bedroom with balcony running the length of the suite, clothes washer and dryer, and Nespresso coffee machine. Doors to the balcony from both living and bed rooms. All rooms are contemporary and attractively furnished. Everything in the room worked well - ample electrical outlets and brilliant lighting sources, a good-sized cold fridge, good bathroom and kitchen fixtures, good shower pressure, clothes and dish washers and two thermostats worked very well, and TVs had a good English movie channel. Bedside tables had drawers (not just tables) and kitchen drawers glide closed at a touch. Conveniently kitted out kitchen included cutting board, salt and pepper, and dishwasher tabs. Comfortable king bed and bedding, extra pillows on request. Top quality bathroom amenities - bathrobes, slippers, and lovely Naturals products for bath gel and shampoo (refillable, bath wall squeeze bottle - convenient for guest use and environmentally friendly), soap and lotion.

Internet: I struggled with the star rating on account of this, but ultimately decided on 5 due to the many positives. This was the one negative. We had read the reviews and were prepared for the much maligned procedures. Our strategy was to ignore the 1 hour free internet in the lobby (and the running back and forth for a new login number), buy a 24 hour time slot for the room, read our emails, go off-line to draft responses and delete, then log back on to send and do tourist research. That way we would minimize our internet usage and stretch the 24 hours over all 6 days. 4 hours a day seemed easily doable. The good: contrary to what we were told at reception, we were able to use 2 ipads - when online together, double the time would be used, which was logical. The bad: it was challenging to actually log off and stop the clock. Although we logged off before going to bed the first night, the next time we logged on we were down 11 hours. After a long phone discussion with Adina's responsive IT support, turns out 1 ipad wasn't properly logged off although it purported to be. We swallowed that bitter pill, but the same thing happened while we were out sightseeing the next day. 8 hours was depleted after we "logged off" and we were not able to purchase a further 24 hour slot. Another conversation with IT - this time they intimated there was a problem with their system, and they gave us some credit. I don't know if these problems are exclusive to ipad (as opposed to laptop) use and Adina responded promptly and appropriately, however, the time we spent being frustrated about and dealing with the issue detracted from our overall positive experience. Some Berlin hotels include internet in their room rates and virtually all hotels the world over provide it free in common areas. To remove a pain point for their guests, I suggest Adina reconsider their policy - even if it means a higher room rate.

To management: apart from the internet policy, there are only two other suggestions I would make. How about at some point installing a retractable clothesline in the bathtub? That would reduce dryer time for those rooms with dryers and provide a place to hang hand-washables in the others. Second, there are simple instructions about how to use the clothes washer in the room, however these instructions are not sufficiently comprehensive for non German-speaking guests. One suggestion is to have a photo of the washer and dryer controls with English translation written beside each German word. Easy to do and no guessing required!

Overall: this hotel deserves its outstanding TA rating. I highly recommend it and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have washers and dryers. Premier rooms have them as well as Nespresso machines and 4...

Great, clean room. Good bed and shower. We had two rooms next door to each other, this worked out well. The 5-year old loved the spa. Breakfast war awesome, especially for the kid who ate pancakes, omelette and hot chocolate every day. Can´t review 5* because the wifi costs.

Reviewed 31 August 2014 via mobile

During our recent trip to Berlin, we stayed at the Adina hotel for 7 nights.
On first viewing, the hotel seemed lovely as it was in a nice, quiet location and the room was spacious. The room came equipped with a small kitchen and it was well stocked with plates and cutlery and the fridge was a very welcome addition.

However there were a few issues during our stay. First, the housekeeping we found to be somewhat unorganised. Times in which the room was cleaned varied between 11 and 4 o'clock. Upon arriving back on one particular evening, we then had to leave our room almost upon entry so it could be cleaned. We could not re-enter our room until 4:30. We thus requested that the next day our room be cleaned between 12 and 1 o'clock, as this service is highlighted in the Adina manual. You can imagine our disappointment when we returned at 3 to find the room yet again unclean. Beware as Housekeeping then re-enter the room hours upon exiting to double check cleanliness, this could be awkward so customers remember to hang your red card on the door.

Secondly when a double room is booked, a double bed and double duvet is wanted. Not two single duvet covers used.

A final point is that free wifi throughout the hotel should come as standard as it is in many establishments of similar price. The internet policy at Adina seemed very overly complicated.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay and it was decent value for money.

Dear Lowm28, many thanks for your short review. I am sorry to read that there had been some issues with the housekeeping department. Please keep in mind that they try to please all guests in 145 apartments mostly all at the same time and guests are more and more check-in pretty early. They try to coordinate this as best as they can and we will have another discussion with them. Regarding the double duvet is not so common in Germany, that´s why all our double beds come with two single duvets. This is mostly not a problem and it seems you had a pleasant stay in the end. I can assure you we can do better, if you give us another try. Kind regards Annette Jost
