“A wow park”

Bad news first: you have to pay a small entrance fee (2€ for adults, 1€ for children). The rest: wow! A huge park in an admittedly somewhat remoter area of Berlin (not much else to do there). The park is very well kept and has lot of areas for children. Bring food and drink, because this is great for a picknick. We also took the train which runs for an hour a complete circle and shows you the enormity of the place. (It's a pity the train isn't electric, though. The diesel fumes are not so great.) It's good for a relaxing day with or without kids.

Beautiful big garden, and there's now tulip festival with so many sorts, some rather seldom seen. Colourful. Rest of the park big enough not to feel crowded, and it seemed like a lot was there just for laying on the lawns enjoying the sun. You could easily bring a good book and spend the day
The only very annoying thing, was the lack of readable signs!! We and others were running around , first to find the essiental tulip area, and after to find the way out. Irritating. Was in the world garden after, with so good signs.

If you want to spend a relaxing day in the sun with your book and a drink, this is the place! Amazing landscape, huge area of the garden offers you many options. Usually there are lot of people here on a bright sunny day but that will not disturb you at all if you get a chance to grab a spot under some tree or by the water. Nice cafe, colourful flowerbeds and with all required amenities to spend a day with friends, family and kids. Easily accessible by public transport.

The Britzer Garten is a truly lovely expanse of plantings, fields, gentle slopes extending over a very wide acreage. If you are looking to spend a day in the sun, picnicking, reading, whatever, you could do a lot worse. That said, unless you are already staying in southern Neukölln, it may take you some time to get here (though the buses are very easy to figure out), and might not be worth the trek when there are other, equally impressive -- and certainly more dynamic -- parks in which to enjoy the outdoors. I think that between Tempelhof, Viktoriapark, the Tiergarten, and some of the Volksparks around town, there is plenty of varied green space to keep one firmly within the Ringbahn. Simply put, I see no reason to travel out to the Britzer, particularly when the flowers are not in bloom and there plainly isn't that much to see from a botanical/horticultural standpoint.

This is an amazing place, a must go if you are in Berlin owing to the following reasons:
1. Beautiful garden, very well managed near Alt-Mariendorf, just take bus 179 from Alt-Mariendorf U-Bahn metro station and get down at Sangernhausern Weg stop.
2. Playing areas for kids including options for water sport activities
3. Very nominal entry fees of just 2 euros, kids entry is free
4. beautiful parks, lake, bridges and landscape
5. Option to ride in a train that helps you get a overall look and feel of the whole enormous park, but for this service, you'll have to pay extra
Please remember to take along food, sheets where you can lay down, water, etc to make sure you are in the right picnic groove!!
Decfinitely a must place for families with children!
