“Vast green lung in Berlin”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Tempelhofer Park has recently been saved from development and no wonder so many Berliners want it to stay as it is, a vast green lung in Berlin. The housing shortage will have to be resolved another way but not by building on the old airport. There is an entrance really close to the S Bahn stop at Berlin-Tempelhof and from there the huge expanse opens up. We spent a couple of hours walking around, beautiful sun meant there were lots of people but the park is so huge that they are all accommodated easily.

Bikes, skates, kites, Segways, plus weird contraptions that you can hire are in abundance and ideally suited to the vast runway tarmac. We saw two buzzards and the sound of birdsong is everywhere, there are protected meadows between the runways. The vast old airport buildings are ranged across one side and are often used for concerts and exhibitions.

Bring a picnic, stay for a while and make the most of this wonderful meadow-bike-track-dog walking-birthday-cake-cutting-BBQ-family-friends-bird-spotting prairie of a place. Every city should have one.

“Unique getaway and park experience”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

I rented 4€/day bikes and rode them all over Berlin. Tempelhofer was a great experience given its rich history. I like that the park retains its original landscape and feel. I have never been to a similar public space in any other city and especially one that is free!

The park is great for kite flying, biking, walking, jogging, frisbee, soccer, basketball, baseball, football, picnics, dates, sunbathing, and recreational experimentation.

You can spend 5 minutes or 5 hours here, I'd highly recommend not to pass this up when visiting Berlin.

“Amazing, abandoned airport turned park!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

A lovely park for a walk - or jog, or cycle, or roller-blade! The signposts around the abandoned airport and runways are interesting and provide information about the history of the airport before it was finally closed and turned into this large park. There is also an old plane to look at!

“Absolutely top notch!”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

I went here with 3 friends while in Berlin. We rented bikes near-by and cycled around for a couple of hours. It was a really, really cool setting and there is loads of space to do anything you want.

People were roller-blading, skate-boarding, cycling, playing football, you name the activity, you could do it here.

We got a lovely day too and the actual building was great too for photos. I would highly recommend checking here out.
