Everyone who visits Berlin goes to see the Brandenburg Gate. It is a very symbolic structure which, for many years was between fences in no mans land - between east and west. Today it represents a unified country.

I visit Berlin at least once a year. None of those visits is complete without a walk to this iconic monument at the divide between Unter der Linden and Avenue June XV . It has come to be the symbol of German unity. It was very close to the dividing line between East and West and will be remembered for the celebrations in 1989 and since. There is a great buzz around it because of the huge tourist interest. It provides excellent photo opportunities. It is located close to the Reichstag, Hotel Adlon, US Embassy, Russian Federation Embassy, Holocaust Museum. It is a pleasant walk to Potsdamer Platz.

Before you will go there please check history of the place! Very important for kind of emotional understanding to know all purposes of the place. So this place in Berlin in line with Reichstag building some other places is symbol of Berlin and Germany in general. If you are in Berlin - absolutely necessary to visit Brandenburg Gate.

This is probably one of the most iconic monuments that is associated with Berlin. Best enjoyed in the early mornings or really late at night as to avoid the crowds.

Located on a main road, it is very easy to find, and there is plenty of space to walk around/beneath it, and to step back to take your photos.
Be wary as there are people about who might ask for donations for various 'charities' or 'good causes' - we were approached by a young girl who kissed us and asked for €10!
