Owner description: Since 1987 a permanent exhibition at the site where the headquarters of the Secret State Police, the SS and the Reich Security Main Office were located during the “Third Reich” has been providing information to the public about the most important institutions of National Socialist persecution and terror. The documentary exhibition conveys the European dimensions of the Nazi reign of terror.

A free exhibition noting the Nazi's rise and fall of power. Very interesting. Completely unbelievable. Well worth a visit.

We did the open top bus tour as we thought that it was far the best way to see Berlin, as we assumed it would stop by all the main attractions, however, the big yellow bus glided by the Topography of Terror and the last remaining bit of Berlin Wall in the West to drop us off at Check Point Charlie! So we had to memorize the route and walk back to it. The Wall and the old Gestapo Headquarters (now the Topography of Terror) are all located in the one place. Running parallel to the wall is an all weather exhibition of the rise of Hitler and his henchmen interwoven with stories of individuals and the effect of their policies on the German people and especially the Jews. This was done excellently, there was silence as people walked past and read the information. Inside the building where the Topography of Terror is housed, again silence as people tried to grasp the horrors and atrocities that are well documented here. It was interesting, educational and sobering and a must do, however, by the time I left the site I was a bit numb and felt I couldn't take anymore pain and torture or read any more about mans inhumanity to man.

Like all of Berlin there is so much history and information, but this is a good representation of the images and information from the war and its impact on its people and the other side. Highly reccomend

In chronological detail, this sets out how Germany and its people succumbed to Hitler and the Nazis will and systematically set about destroying those who were 'enemies' of the state - Jews, Roma, gays, communists - the list is limitless. And putting names, faces to those who carried out the will of the state - and those large businesses, many of them household names, who financially supported the Nazi party. Prepare to be upset!
